Hey, so I just stumbled upon this little piece I played years ago!! I was experimenting in jazz a little and the great pianist, Randy Waldman, asked if we could try out a song he liked "Cantor da Noite." I said sure but that I didn't know how to improvise, and he said no problem, I will write out a solo for you! So this clip of the song basically starts at the violin solo! It is one of the hardest things I have EVER played because it is not violinistic! And to go from super weird fast notes and patterns to a calm, melodic line and back again was so challenging!! But I realized my old computer is on its last legs and this recording was going to be gone forever so I saved it so I could remember and share! I will share the whole song and some fun others soon!!
And guess who is on drums? Vinnie Colaiuta!! OMG... Bass player was Dave Carpenter (RIP) and Tom Saviano helped to put it together - so fun!
