Or I was thinking just pour a last layer after most of the sanding is done with the table upright and let it just run off the edges, then when it's dry sand edges but not top. That way the tops of the branches will still be seen some, but also covered slightly, as if they were actually covered by "leaves". And if the color isn't exactly a match, well then it's fall. Lol.

@Just Some Kraken With Internet Access Think a little laterally my friend. By making (mixing) the base colour with the basic resin (Part A) for the whole project, then just add the necessary volume of Hardender (Part B) for each pour (the thin layer and, when 'setting' the main pour) then the colour will be identicle for the whole resin element. Job done innit !!!

Hey John, now you have to create the top for the other three seasons too. ;-) Maybe one base with four tops to change whatever season is at the moment ;-) BTW: I have the idea for another epoxy project: Take a massive tabletop (i.e. maple), burn it down, really deep. So you have the cracks and it will look like cooled lava. then put in some small amounts of orange/red epoxy. I should look like liquid lava in a cooled lava field. After this, cover the whole tabletop in crystal epoxy ;-) What do you think?

First, your video is great , blah, blah, blah (insert favorite phrases here), and love your channel. FYI, on your next carving, you can add lots of strength to your glue joints by using bamboo skewers as dowels. they are very strong and easy to install at any angle, giving any glue joint super strength, and if you carve some while still protruding, they can look like tiny broken branches. Their added strength is unbelievable. I use then on 1/4" plywood joints all the time. I do have a video about skewers as dowels if you want to learn more. Hope you weren't too busy to read this :>)

Hey John I use the Milwaukee m12 die grinder to carve you can buy any cheap 2 inch aluminum oxide discs for them. I use 36-40 grit to hog away material and you don’t get any tear out. I can carve for around 30-40 minutes on one 4.0 m12 battery. I currently use mine to carve birds. I roughout them out on the bandsaw and then shape them with my die grinder from 36 grit for shaping up to 10000 grit for finish. I don’t do any hand sanding on them. It makes the job fly and you don’t have to worry about losing a finger!

Terrific build, I really enjoyed watching it. The one thing I would change is if you could somehow suspend the tabletop 1-2 mm further away from the resin top so, you can't see the wood through the table top. If that makes sense? Although as it currently is, it feels almost like a cross section of a tree which is really neat as well. :)

so i do a bit of power carving myself especially with the arbortec turboplane I love that thing. some things i've learnt from power carving is having a variable speed angle grinder can help at times with tear out aswell as just being alot less aggressive, really quite amazing how much control you can have with that tool and when you get more confident just being more nimble with it and having the grinder is some really quite odd hand positions to account for grain direction(using a switch grinder and not a trigger one of course) will make that alot easier to accomplish. another tool which you may want to look into is a powerfile ive just got a black and decker one but makita has a reasonable one and some pretty solid pneumatic ones they compliment it wonderfully especially for those awkward spots you just cant quite reach and the stock removeable is really impessive, and since its a sanding belt you wont blow out chunks either. hope this little tid bit helps, love your work john and hope to see more power carving in your future.
