I know euthanizing invasive species is the norm for when they are found and removed, so I really appreciate seeing them simply relocated and allowed to live their lives elsewhere. I wish they'd do the same for the other invasive species in FL. Killing them just because they are a "nuisance" is crazy to me. The iguanas in particular, but even the Burms I hate seeing just killed when it does little to solve any problems. I've heard the iguanas have been around far longer than the pre-internet pet releases, but maybe I'm wrong. I know the Burms established breeding and genetic diversity after a hurricane destroyed a breeding/research facility. There's gotta be a better solution than slaughtering a bunch. At least these Chams will live on.

Burn hunters are selling/giving them to fellow reptile keepers as a food resource, I think they are required to kill them, so at least they aren't just being wasted.

Iguanas wreak absolute havoc on foundations, shoreline erosion, etc. Millions and millions in damage from iguanas alone in Florida every year. Their population is booming, so inevitably it will collapse in upon itself. Carrying capacity is at its max. Controlling the numbers is good for everyone, including iguanas. I promise.

@Ze-Germanzuk

@@mrzjohnson4 But a few guys going out and killing them doesn't control the population it does absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. Most of the guys doing it are either doing it for money or because they just enjoy killing and this is a great excuse. There are way too many KZitem channels of guys abusing animals and saying "but they are invasive so we are doing good".

Unfortunately, the "Hurricane Andrew" story is a false flag (and one I've used for a long time too). Records of breeding Burmese in the Everglades date back to at least a decade, decade and a half if not more before that storm went through, only major source then was releases of captives from negligent pet owners. The animals released by the hurricane exacerbated the issue and made the problem that much bigger that much faster, but it would have been a problem even without.

What a great time...I am a huge firearms advocate....last year at our local mall in Boise, Id. my wife and I came very close to having to use our handguns as 20 minutes after we left the mall a guy started shooting people at the mall in the very spot we were standing. But one thing I can tell you...there is no place in America where it is legal to shoot someone just for trespassing or being on your property. As a matter of fact, unless your life or someone else's is in immediate threat of death or severe harm you can never shoot someone. That is a fast ticket to prison for yourself. Great video Dav...as always.

I have a very genuine question; it is meant with absolutely zero vitriol or anything, I am just genuinely very curious and want to learn! If the chameleons do no real harm as an invasive species, why relocate them? I completely understand if they actually disrupt the natural order and stuff in that area, for example the Burmese pythons in Florida, but what if they really DO do no harm in the environment? Perhaps there's more to it than what is mentioned in the video, and if that's the case, I'm eager to hear about it so I can be properly educated about this. Thanks for sharing, Dav! Currently going through a binge of your content and everything is so educational and entertaining.

Worst thing I've encountered yet was a rancher patiently telling us to get off property that had no fences or signs to signal a private area (major issue in the plains, where half the time it's leased public property that they pretend they own and the other half the time they don't bother actually marking out the boundaries correctly), and then after hearing us talk happily about trying to find rattlesnakes, made the excuse that it was because he couldn't be liable for us getting hurt out there...and then talked about how he killed every rattlesnake he found because somehow he had it in his head that they are worse than loose dogs or even just the local weather (when they're really more a nuisance to the cattle most of the time...). People... Makes me wonder if I should get a weapons permit if I ever head to Florida to herp though, annoying ranchers pale compared to drunks or druggies who may or may not actually have that gun they threaten with....
