Seeing you work on this starter recoil reminded me I needed to clean and lube the starter recoil on the 1957 7.5HP I am currently rebuilding.

You and I know that you got lucky on removing that spring. For one, I always lock down the spring with at least 3 even spaced wire ties before moving it out so the spring doesn't shoot out and unwind violently on me. Not only is it a pain to rewind but that shooting spring can cause a lot of harm. Prudence mon ami !

Thanks for the fix T-Mike! The guy I bought the motor from said the spring broke and he did the repair himself. Guess he wasn’t much of a repair guy 😅 Can’t wait to get it back and put it on the motor.

Another great video. Did you lube the spring before you reassembled everything? Also is there a video on the tiller linkage from the handle all the way to the Mag plate? I would like to see that one. Mike-T

spring is backwards seen it a lot on small engines
