Heating up the crown with a hairdryer or heat gun will also help open up any gaps. It’ll help the Loctite to wick in, as it’ll thin out more.

Thanks for the helpful video. Loctite worked great on my 6-year-old RockShox Pike. But I used Loctite 648 instead of 638 since it has a much lower viscosity to help it wick into the gaps. It's also a high strength retaining compound like the 638. It's been 2 months now and still no creaking. 😁👍

@@jedmtb I see. One more question. What was the reason behind using 638 and not 648? I just ordered some 648 because I couldn't get 638, and 648 is apparently less viscous and able to get into smaller gaps. Haven't got it yet but I would think it would work better for this application

@@perttukoo The creaking turned out to be coming from the headset cups. I would still recommend the 648 as it's properties seem more suited to this application. Less viscous so it would have a better chance of getting into any gaps.

Yes unfortunately it's not 100% hopefully the manufacturers will address it as the bigger forks ZEB/38 will make the issue worse.

Finn I’ll give you a bit of an update because I’m sure your super frustrated searching the internet for a solution to the creak, just like I was. I gave my forks to my local bike shop, they sent it in to fox and I got given a full csu replacement for no cost. I was creak free for a few months and then all of a sudden my archenemy (the dreaded creak) came back after a muddy enduro race day. I was super pissed as the first time I got the csu replaced I had to spend 2 weeks away from my beloved bike 😢 I honestly couldn’t be bothered to take the forks back again so I pulled my headset out, pulled my crown race thingo off and put some fresh grease on everything and just let it be. I haven’t heard a creak since and it’s been a good 5 months. So my advice is to just let it be, it might be annoying for the mean time but I suppose after a while things wear in. However, if you have any scratches on your stanchions now you know you can get some fresh new fork uppers for no cost, just say you have a creaky csu 😏 I hope this helps you out a bit 🤞🏻

So my question which I cant seem to find a solid answer to, is that is this just something thats annoying, or is it a legitimate mechanical concern? Because if its just an annoyance I don't feel like wasting my time an effort with a warranty process, my car makes tons of weird and annoying noises but its totally normal and just a part of it aging. But if its a serious mechanical concern then I would for sure be talking to fox while these things are still under warranty.

Its just annoying. If your fork is still in warranty you can send your Fork to Fox for free but the people who come here probably dont got any warrenty on their fork left..

Very interesting! But my Fox 36 170mm have more of a clicking sound like that kzitem.info/news/bejne/mJp41WuEjJOYZWk And yet when i talked to a Fox-trained mechanic his first guess was that its the "crown" fault that need to be replaced. i think he ment the entire CSU, that is the same problem adressed here.

Telling people to twist there forks around like that is not a smart idea. There’s always that one guy that goes overboard and brakes the bridge in the lower.
@shrimpfriedrice494

As if the forks don't already take that kind of force x100 while riding. If a fork breaks from twisting it with your hands then it's probably a good thing you won't be riding on it anymore.

@@djmystery7235 He's not really twisting it in the video. He's moving one side back and one side forward, similar to how the fork will flex when encountering square edged hits on a trail.
