Great way to start in the audio diy hobby. For those who dont like to tinker, a wiim streamer starts at 80$ last time I looked. But this is an excellent explanation of every step needed. Well done

@@rogergadgetguy loved the reusing of the plastic box. Most people don't think about that and just spend their way into a fitting housing for a device. As a dutchie I applaud the saving monetary and eco wise 👍😎

Hi roger the anti static bags only work when the object is inside the bag, the outside is generally where the built up static electricity is released

Hi, Your point is well taken. I just got into the habit of only laying unenclosed boards on an antistatic surface when I worked on sensitive circuits. Of course this only works if you are wearing a grounding strap but old habits die hard. All this being said, putting the bag in the case will for sure do no harm, and I am not very concerned about ESD damage to a robust module like this anyway.

Fantastic. So, total Noob here: if I get my turntable which has a line out (an amp is in the turntable), and I connect the turntable's line-out to the line-in of this 'streamer' thing, then I can play records wirelessly to my Wi-Fi speakers... That is the basic idea, right?
@rogergadgetguy

Hi Simon To get the line in you will need the up2stream pro board (www.arylic.com/products/up2stream-pro-receiver-board ) which costs $10 more than the mini board that I showed in the video. This is the same board Arylic put in their S10 Streamer/Preamp. I have only tested the S10 not the bare board, but the S10 works great. I used it to stream a turntable to a pair of WiFi speakers as you suggest. This video shows a streaming turntable using a Wiim Streamer in place of the Arylic (.kzitem.info/news/bejne/2p2ivGGspax8qqQ) Wiim and Arylic are compatible and interchangeable. For this all to work the WiFi speakers need to use the same multiroom protocols as the streamer. The Arylic (or Wiim ) streamer works well with the Edifier MS50a or the Audioengine A1-mr speakers Of course if you wanted to go full DIY you could get a pair of Speakers in Kit form from Parts Express and convert them to WiFi speakers with an Arylic Streamer/Amp board (www.arylic.com/products/up2stream-amp-amplifier-board). With your Arylic Streamer you could also play to any stereo equiped with a streamer or a streamer/amp from Wiim, Andover Audio, or Dayton Audio. One last caveat. I have, found that some phono cartrige/ pre-amp combinations can output quite a high level signal which can cause audible distortion on musical peaks due to overload of the line in. If this happens and your turntable has a variable gain pre-amp then great, just turn it down. Otherwise insert one of these between the tuntable line out and the streamer line in. www.amazon.com/Nobsound-Controller-Adjuster-Amplifier-Switcher/dp/B074HW3575?crid=2CH5GIN8COTAD&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.FdX34pLk7LhU0Trz0Hvl86mkLHZX3F3Zh-WhpDUYc8AW3gmemCre9iwkFNNLMW1qoQU_Pe-ZLxraoLcgZMO4vyiGjbmzLG1Yq1dvhPTlYNpgZzeodDEO4zD2xnoA3UKIh_SjXKK6-1PMHr5jB8Pr1aKY4O2EKbUpjJjG6KuZTM5-UnY15dI2Q_IXzLD3O3bAgyStt88Ns4eZV5uiB837PEESW6Nxq6zT6mQ18dobdGI.rJywaTVW7lBJmMhQuNSODvrXyk_Yu2h4aEhvgbA8_uw&dib_tag=se&keywords=passive%2Bvolume%2Bcontrol&qid=1714061346&sprefix=passive%2Bvolume%2Bcontrol%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-3&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=rogergadgetgu-20&linkId=e6b258001a0a3fa1d197874617349caf&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

Is there a digital streaming output to use an external DAC?

Arylic offer an SPDIF out expansion board for $15. I have tried it it's plug and play and works well. Sound is outstanding with a good external DAC. Expansion board is here; www.arylic.com/products/expansion-boards?variant=32778796040277

Hi, It's very similar in use to the no longer with us, and sorely missed Chromecast Audio. Both devices support DLNA for in home network streaming, For apps like Spotify which have their own protocal for casting music to another device, they are the same. playing other music services works differently on the two devices and gives rise to compatibility differences. The bottom line is the Cheapskate streamer is better for Apple iPhones because it suports Airplay (But not Chromecast) so it can play any Audio app that you can play on an iPhone. The Chromecast is better for Andriod phones because it supports Chromecast (but not Airplay) so it will play any audio app that will play on Android. This is not a big deal for most people though, because the 4Stream app gives you a way to play most of the popular music apps even if the Apple or Google platform doesn't support it natively
