Create a flow chart in Google Drive using Google Drawing
Hi! In this video we will create a flow chart in Google Docs, using the drawing tool.
Flow charts are a great graphical representation of a process. They are used in entertainment, engineering, programing, and physical sciences to communicate how a process should work, without needing to understand the technology behind them.
Flow charts several symbols. The more popular are:
rounded rectangle. - The start and end of a flow chart
rectangle - process or task
diamond - decision
Arrows show the flow of control.
As you can see, I’ve started my flow chart already. To start your own, go to the Insert menu and select “Drawing”. Since I’ve already started mine, I’ll just double click on the flow chart.
Once you are in the drawing section, you’ll need to add some shapes. The shape tool button has a a hollow circle with a shaded square. Clicking on it you will see all kinds of options. We are interested in shapes. Notice how the bottom section of shapes comes up with the name ‘Flowchart’. These are the shapes we want! Now I’m going to select the flowchart process button and click and drag out a rectangle.
To add some text inside, I just double click, and enter the text… I’ll add some formatting to it as well.
Now I’ll connect my flow chart with some arrows. Click on the drop-down tab by the line tool, and select arrow. Now connect them up!
Great! Now let’s add a text box with the words NO. Click on the Text Box tool, click and drag, and type away!
My flow chart just needs and ending. It uses the exact same process, but I’ll choose the rounded rectangle shape.
….
….
That’s it! When you are finished, click save and close.
If your flow chart isn't’ the right size, you can adjust it’s size just like you would any other image.
That’s it! Now you can impress your science teacher or boss with your next report.
See you soon!
