Lightburn is perhaps the 2nd best software application I have ever had only behind excel. Good job Lightburn.

This video showed up one day after I figured it out 😂 my image trace outline I wanted to cut was wonky and had to edit some nodes to make the cookie cutter work for a geometric background. Is there a way to make the layer directly behind the image not output? That would be easier than making a cookie cutter. Thank you LightBurn!

Layers do not affect each other, so there is no way to do this without cutting the shapes.

What if I need to cutout an image, like a tiger paw, with individual toes, yet make sure the toes are connected to the meat of paw so they do not fall away or separate from the image?

For cutting out an image, I would use image trace to convert it to a vector. Then if you need to make some changes to the trace, it would be a job for node editing. We have a video coming out on it next Friday, but you can also check out our documentation on it here: docs.lightburnsoftware.com/Tools/EditNodes.html

When I draw images e.g. boxes, circles, polygons they are all black. How do I turn that off?

That means they are on a fill layer. This setting can be disabled by clicking on the gear icon in the top toolbar and unchecking "filled rendering".

Do you mean how to set up a cut layer? Or the settings needed to cut through your material? If your still having issues send any details about what you've tried and whats happening to our team - support@lightburnsoftware.com

@@lightburnsoftware7189 I have only had Lightburn for a few weeks and now we are six days on since I had this little problem. I have become a bit more proficient at it by now and have copied the "cut shapes" part of the video exactly. It worked now. Thank you for your response because it prompted me to try again. I don't know what I did wrong each time but it's actually quite simple. I use Ligtburn almost every day, am far from knowing everything but am becoming more proficient with it. Thanks again. Ciao

what if you just want to make a donut, or ring shape!? ughhhhh. in the software my laser came with i easily figured out how to join two circles to create a donut, or ring shape. with this software.. that simple task seems like rocket science.

Draw two circles, one inside the other. That’s it. Set the layer they’re on to Fill.

@@lightburnsoftware7189 oh, okay, thank you. i was kinda doing that, except for the fill part. i guess the other reason i was having trouble with this is that when i tried to trim part of it, it's getting treated as if it's a solid circle.. like say i wanted a "C" shape, i would end up with a half circle shape instead. i did find a way around that specific issue, but it is still a problem that i am running into quite a lot, where when i try to trim a combined shape, it doesn't give the result i want. and i think it's because i don't know when a combined object is truly joined into a new single shape, if that makes sense. will keep working on it, thank you.
