I have used Photoshop and ACR for years, but I learned so many great tips watching this superb video. Some techniques I knew, but I haven’t used for years. All good stuff! Thank you! I was in a rut, and now, I look forward to using a new approach to my edits.

I have a question. Isn't easier to do this in Lightroom by masking all three layers and editing separately instead of all of this work?
@NikkiPhotoArt

This was one years before (look at the date) masking was a thing, so… yes! Either LR or ACR

Great work, I was trying your style and had a question regarding camera raw setting, specifically the 'reset to original'. I don't have that option I do but (it is greyed out) how do I enable this? all other setting are the same.
@NikkiPhotoArt

Is it a raw file?

@@annieleon4303 then it may already be the original image as shot, if you didn’t make any changes to the raw file, it will be greyed out.

@@NikkiPhotoArt is there a way to message you so I can explain better? If not in one of your steps you opened your raw file as a smart object after edits via raw camera then made a via copy then went back into camera raw to make changed to skin where you were able to reset to default. I followed exactly but that one option just isn't available.🫥

Nikki; Why do you use Adobe1998 as opposed to ProFoto RGB as your color space and what are you shooting with that gives you a 60mb file? ~ thanks

Great video. It actually seems her face was soft not from your lens but because you miss focus. Her shoulder and dress detail on shoulder is more in focus than her face. This is wonderful though and thank you for this tutorial.

also she said it's because canon 85 is too soft, yet she shot this on sony (note the .arw file). But yeah, the tutorial is amazing

this happens a lot with the Canon 85 1.2, which is why I can now move on with my Sony 50 1.2 without missing focus! (Happy Dance)

Just curious. Why work in camera raw wirh smart objects vs working in layers with just masking. Is there a different benefit?
@NikkiPhotoArt
3 жыл бұрын
Ah yes good question. Many times add a new smart object as copy and make alternate raw adjustments so I can mask on or off different effects. The only way to use the raw copy is to keep it as a smart object before converting it to a reg layer.

I love it! Looks a lot more complex than it actually is..Going to give it the ol' college try! However, The softness of the raw file gives me anxiety :(. I dont know is If I could get by that.

Rich Ackerbauer I know!! I only use sharp lenses for client work because I only sell prints and this would not be nearly as good printed!!
