Great video. One question, how do I know who's response is who's? I have a slight concern they might post an inappropriate answer and I won't know who posted it. Hopefully it doesn't happen, but I teach middle school, haha. This would also be important for just knowing who is "getting it" or not, etc.

Hi Lance! Thanks for watching and commenting. Being able to see individual student responses in Pear Deck is a premium feature. You can learn more about that here: help.peardeck.com/how-do-i-see-student-responses I still find Pear Deck can be helpful even without seeing students names. You can stop periodically throughout a lesson and ask a question to gauge students comprehension. It provides a quick way to see if students are understanding the information before moving on.

@@IanRoy86 Hi Ian! When creating a Pear Deck presentation, you will create the presentation inside of Google Slides with the Pear Deck add-on as shown in the video. When presenting, you must share the presentation using the link and access code (as shown). The presentation itself is not through Google Slides. If you want to present the Pear Deck presentation with your students virtually, you will need to share your screen with your students. I hope that all makes sense.

@@Vestals21stCenturyClassroom Thank you for the response. I believe it does. After poking around their site and seeing your video and response, it looks like if I was running a Zoom presentation, the students/attendees would need to watch me and my presentation in one browser window, and then open another window to use the code and access the interactive mechanics of the presentation. A bit of bouncing and relying on the attendees to understand that, but definitely a valuable tool to be aware of and consider implementing for me. Thanks so much for creating the video for awareness.

Hi Stephanie! Thanks for watching and commenting. For PreK, I would avoid anything to requires typing or writing. I would also be cautious about doing multiple choice unless you keep simple and use the audio feature to record narration for each questions. With children that young, using the drawing tool and drag and drop tool. For example, after listening to a story, they could draw what happens at the beginning of the story or their favorite part of the story. Activities such as that would work great with the younger ones.

@@Vestals21stCenturyClassroom Thank you for replying. I created a short one, just to see if I could get it to work...then logged in as a student to see how it would look. This may seem like a stupid question...but when I get to the last slide in student mode, the presentation just ends; there was no option on the screen for students to exit. Do I need to add a final slide, with instructions on what to do at the end? Or did I just miss something when I went through it as a student?

How can I send my slide via Google Classroom for asynchronous learning assignment? How will the interactive peardeck features play out if all students have access at different times to the same slides (and can the kids edit/change the original slides if I'm sharing a google slideshare with them?)
@Vestals21stCenturyClassroom
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna! Thanks for watching and commenting. If you go to 12:11, you will see two options for sharing the presentation with students. For asynchronous learning, you will want to select the Self-Paced Activity. This will allow students to access the presentation at any time after you share it with them and you do not have to guide them through the presentation. If you go to 13:21, you will see how to share the presentation with your students. You are not going to share the Slides the same way you normally would share a Google presentation because students need to be able to access the Slides through Pear Deck to be able to interact with them. You will provide the link (joinpd.com) and the password to the Pear Deck presentation for students to access. When students access the Slides through Pear Deck they are unable to change the Slides. Pear Deck will ensure everything is locked. The only things students can move, type, etc. are the interactive components. Students will not be able to see each other's responses, but you can check at any time to see how students are responding as they interact with the Slides. I hope this information is helpful!

Why does the "Multiple Choice Response Preview" window not come up for me? The answer window pops up immediately. It also does not show the answer options on the slide.

Hi Stacey! Thanks for watching and commenting. It's hard for me to visualize the problem you are encountering and help you troubleshoot without being able to see your screen and the error. I am not sure why you are getting the popup, but after you put in your multiple choice items and save, you should see the options in the box at the bottom of the screen. Also, make sure you are not trying to edit questions within the box at the bottom of the screen as that can create problems.

Thank you for the step by step tutorial video of Pear Deck. My district office recently purchased Pear Deck and I have only attended a thirty minute training for it so this video is very helpful. What a great tool to increase student participation and communication during distance learning.

Thank you so much for these great videos. Do you have a video that helps explain how to share interactive slides where students can drag and drop objects, for example apples to a tree? We purchased a math worksheet on TPT, and it is an addition worksheet that is premade. Students are to add apples to the trees then add them all up for the answer. My students could not click and drag the apples, the apples would not move. Thank you!

I have a question. How do I get the motion object animation that I already have in my pre existing google slides to work with pear deck. I tried adding the Power Up extension and it still doesn’t work. 😕 I have shapes that disappear to reveal answers underneath that won’t disappear when I present or the kids try to work on their own as homework. Help!

Hi Christa! From my experience and understanding, when you share a presentation with students through Pear Deck, all of the interactivity has to be created in Pear Deck. I haven't tried to create interactives or motion graphics in Google Slides and then share with Pear Deck, but I don't think it would work. Hope this helps!

Hi Ria! Thanks for watching. I am sorry but I am not understanding your question. You can learn more about Pear Deck multiple choice questions by visiting their help site though. Here is their page about multiple choice: www.peardeck.com/pear-deck-blog/2018/12/5/best-practices-multiple-choice

In nearpod/kahoot, in the multiple choice question, let see you set 4 option answers (A,B,C,D), then you can set which one is the correct answer. So if the students choose the correct answer, the got a point/score. I didn't see it in your pear dock video. So i ask, whether pear dock can do the similar thing like kahoot/nearpod

Hi! Thanks for watching. If you present the presentation using any video conferencing platform (including Teams), students will just be able to see your screen. They will need to open their own version of the presentation using the code (like how I show in the video) in a separate tab to be able to interact with the content.
