Very clever! However, I am an English style knitter and, sadly, I can’t wrap my brain around new techniques when shown in continental style.

Thanks! I am the most awkward knitter when holding the yarn in my right hand which is why I don't show it that way... but the technique is the same, just a different hand doing it!

@@LauraNelkin I understand that it’s the same principle, it’s just that my brain cannot translate your explanation into doing it holding the yarn in the right hand. It’s not you, it’s me 😂

very clever! i've made convertible mittens using waste yarn, but picking up the sts for the flap was iffy, and this looks much neater and easier. i'm in the North COuntry of NYS, so we're practically nieghbors 🙂. thx for sharing this 'trick' with us.

Please do a video on how you would use your technique for a turned bottom hem on a sweater. Thanks.

Great idea! I have one for bottom up sweaters, but a top down hem is on my list!

Thank you very much for these very clear videos and I think I can do each of the things that are being shown here. But...I am working on a sweater from the bottom--I am at the point of binding 5 stitches off at each edge of the back for the beginning of the sleeve opening, followed by knitting 2 stitches together at the beginning of every other row. Later, those stitches will be picked up for the sleeve and this should be a perfect use for stitch saver. But, I can't figure out how to do it for the bound off stitches--maybe it can't be done, but if it can, I would love to see a video.

Hi! I don't think it would work in this situation to use stitch saver... and when I have a pattern that uses a neckline that binds off like that, if I come up with a way I promise to make a video for you!

@@LauraNelkin Thanks very much for your speedy reply and, in some ways that is comforting to know that it wasn't just my ineptitude that was pretending this from working. I will bind off the usual way and then use the stitch saver on the edges as I continue towards the top.

I wish I could use these. I bought one, but it obviously wasn't pure silicone. It gave me anaphylaxis. Now I'm scared to try buying a different one. (I'm not allergic to silicone. I am allergic to soy, which can be in dyes and plastics.)

Gah! That's scary! I believe there is food safe silicone tubing. Perhaps that would work? If not, you can use a spare needle!

What is the sweater next to you on the form in the introductory part of the video. It is gorgeous! I want to knit myself one!

On the top mitten, did you wrap the RN over the tubing or under and over. Over the top or under the tubing? It looks like you did two different things that’s why I’m asking.

You want to wrap so it ends up with the left leg of the yarn to the front of the tubing!
