11:26 you can also right click with points mode activated and explode segments. Then just connect and delete the letters that use multiple splines.

Thank you so much. I'm DACHA. I'm a motion graphic designer who joined the company now in Korea. There was a VIDEOFORT that allowed us to produce a broadcast sub-title. It's a lot like that, but... I'm a rookie in C4D with your tuto. I'm confident I can make something new and challenge something The lecture is really detailed and English is not a main language, but it is heard.It is a really nice video Thank you so much. 13:37 - instead of using a sweep for each spline, you can use a connect object to combine all the spline, then a spline mask to make them into one spline, and finally use a sweep on that. This way it's easy to change the diameter of all the neons in one operation.
@Har2h

How you re gonna animate each letter separately afterwards?
@theophiled
3 жыл бұрын
@@Har2h You animate the end growth of the individual splines instead of animating the visibility of the material like in the video, this way you can also have a more realistic neon light which "fill" the tubes instead of simply blinking in and out. One caveat tho is that by doing so, you cant use a spline for both the light and the glass, because the glass will disappear when you animate the splines. I just duplicated the splines (one set for the light and one set for the glass). That's not entirely procedural but it's still faster than manually doing a sweep for each spline EDIT: here's my result, as a proof : kzitem.info/news/bejne/u2xouISBs6yZp4Y I was a bit sloppy on the post prod and I tried to do an "infinity mirror" effect which doesnt work as well as I expected, so please see that more as a POC

thank you! Lots of useful information, even for a tutorial that's fairly long you cover so much and so well, appreciate the amount of effort put into going through and time stamping the different sections, that sort of thing is often overlooked by other people who make tutorials. Also is there a particular reason that you went for RPF on the final render as opposed to OpenEXR?

I am having difficulty getting the luminance splines to generate light beyond the glass. I am not sure where I am wrong in the process, am I missing some settings? instead the glass sweep is showing in black/dark, no light is being emanated from the sweep spline, but when I turn the glass off from renderer, the light glows. :( any ideas or suggestions?
@bernardpettiford5398
4 жыл бұрын
So after days of trying to figure out why I was getting the same result, I discovered that I had Ambient Occlusion turned on in my render settings. Once I turned this off, the luminance came through the glass. I am using R22. There is an option in the Ambient Occlusion setting to Evaluate Transparency. I am going to try this next and see if that keeps the luminance showing but still allows for ambient occlusion on everything else. Hope this helps.

@@TheRegent914 The Evaluate Transparency did help my render quite a bit. I have been using Redshift as my primary render so I'm not sure with the most recent version of C4D if the results would still be the same if using the Physical renderer. Sorry I can't be more help.

Absolutely brilliant, well-planned and super-clear--thank you. I unfortunately don't work with the text tool much, and my final result ended up with jaggies from the text, kind of ruined the effect, even with smoothing deformer, high anti-alias, SDS, etc. Any thoughts on repair?
@PopnAwe
5 жыл бұрын
Do you mean you're getting jaggies on the bends/corners of the letters? That's why he chamfered the text splines he used, also check the radius of the circle spline you're using for the sweeps if its too big it will end up clipping into itself on bends/corners. The effect can differ for each different font you use, some fonts are better than others in that regard.
@jeffreyhass6841
5 жыл бұрын
@@PopnAwe Thanks for the reply--none of those issues with the inner tubes...the straight lines were a bit jagged as well as the curved--eventually kicked up the anti-aliasing pretty high before going to PR, also added a cloth tag with a tiny bit of added thickness to the outer tube that helped mask the remaining imperfection and actually gave it a much more realistic look--try it. Also toned down the level of the luminance material just a bit and that helped as well. And finally a head-scratcher new to me...the Cinema Picture Viewer still showed slightly more jaggedness than the final output to AE. I'll try and track that down.
@PopnAwe
5 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreyhass6841 The cloth tag is pretty good for that, alternatively you could make a tube spline and sweep that instead of a circle. Wasn't sure if you meant mesh jaggies or material artifacting. If its material artifacting you can try to mess with the phong angle on the phong tag. I'm a c4d novice myself but I tend to use octane as a renderer as opposed to the built in renderers in C4D. Sometimes the picture viewer can be a bit deceiving at times and I've found it doesn't always give you a true indication to the final render. Always best to do a render area preview of certain parts of your shot just to double check before you do a full/final render.
