That process makes me appreciate blender. Shift-A > mesh > ico sphere > set subdivisions to one and voila. Scale to size

I have stumbled upon your video looking for this exact thing I was wondering what is the best placement for randomizing the D20 properly? It kinda looks like a spindown to me while you are making it in Fusion 360.

Well thinking through the math... If the D20 was perfectly balanced then it would not matter where you place the numbers... since random is random. So the short answer is it does not matter. I would probably just grab a D20 dice and copy its pattern. Also I would only use this for fun... its probably random enough to use with friends but not truly well balanced to be truly random.

@@iqless thanks for the reply I will probably just copy them, and what I plan on doing is printing some spindowns then casting some dice in silicone and make custom dice for my friends, and again thanks for responding on my comment on your video from about a year ago

When I added the center point arc and clicked on to make the sphere body, it didn’t not appear nor did the category on the left “bodies”…any thoughts? Great tutorial!

I suggest changing one more thing in Fusion 360 Preferences. Under "Pan, Zoom, Orbit shortcuts", I changed mine to "Tinkercad". Now, I can rotate with the Right Mouse button. Obviously this also works the same in Tinkercad which as you probably already know is also an Autodesk supported product.

I can’t believe OpenScad exists. That seems so complicated to me! lol

Well for one its open source, but it also has some pretty useful features. Like making easy customizable parts. Say you made a screw / barb fitting / pipe design but you wanted to make it usable for every size. You could write a script to just plug in the value on the fly. Sure the software looks like something out of early 2000's but it works. Besides it still a huge improvement over Auto and Eagle cad from the 90's

Could you please provide a STL file for that d20?

Oh go on thingiverse or prusaprintesr.or and search for D20 you will find way better stuff than I made :)

I’m thinking you could have did the revolver and extrude a “intersect” cut instead of encasing the item? I would love to see what @lars Christianson would say could be done differently. You’re a smart dude. Smarter than most of your audience. Square roots and golden ratios are not normal knowledge for guys like me. So without explanation it still don’t make sense. While you were playing Magic the Gathering I was chasing women... so, I need some further explanation.

I would love to see what Lars Christianson would do differently too! I have a very limited knowledge of Fusion 360, there is a good chance he knows a simpler way of doing this.

Hi Patrick, another great video. You asked for suggestions on other ways on how to create an Icosahedron in Fusion 360. Here is a screen capture as I built one using Fusion 360 kzitem.info/news/bejne/0niNmZulcGuIiqw . Note I have used the new preview UI so the UI may look a little different to the standard Fusion 360 UI. Sorry there is no audio explanations, I was not in a place I could make voice overs :)

Oh that was beautiful. I need to go watch that again and try out some of those tools. That was slick. I bow to your Fusion 360 skills

Since you mentioned magic, Magic life counters were not normal D20's. They didn't follow the D side + 1 rule. It was wrapped high to low so you only had to rotate one face per health.

You can try printing it on a raft or printing it on glass will give you a clean bottom layer.
