Thank you! its just crushed rock, so yes its organic. Its used as a base for asphalt, as in - it goes under asphalt, or many other surfaces

This is all very cool. But def not for folks who weren't ever thinking about shelling mega $$ to start a backyard garden. But, am guessing that is not your audience. Awesome work though! P.S. I do hope this does inspire many other suburban folks to start growing their own food. We can use as many of people to grow their own stuff in this hyper-monopolized-food world.

Yes, gardens can certainly be made a with less money and less effort and I actually have a full series for that type of garden here on my channel showing the temporary garden I had here previously. If you’re doing raised beds though, it makes sense to invest the time and energy and money to do it right the first time so it will work well and last. I agree, whatever people choose to do in growing their own food is a step in the right direction

What an incredible waste of time and money. You will never recoup what you’ve spent, versus numerous other options. Granted, it’s your money and you can spend it as you wish, but it’s impractical for most people. Hopefully you’ll offer a similar version of this concept that is more within the financial, and physical, limitations of most people who’d be inclined to watch this video. As I said before, it’s your time, money, and effort, but it’s also excessive. I’m interested in the cost of this project. By the way, what happened to your trees, that was the initial video that brought me to your channel.

Thank you! It’s tough to estimate the timeframe because I worked on it off and on between other projects, and filming while building also takes time. Working straight through exlucmding the bed build would probably be 4 weeks

Absolutely incredible. I’m browsing KZitem to see some ideas for raised garden beds for my aging parents. They love to garden but still do it old school and planting directly onto the floor. Your video is meticulously made and your raised beds look like they will last decades. There’s so much work put into the leveling of the floor that it’s a bit intimidating. Wow wow wow. So much work, but you thought of everything!!! I can see that many of the issues I’m dealing with (drainage, tree roots, irrigation) could have been solved with some pre-work and forethought. Always learning. How many trips to Home Depot did this take???

Ditto welcome back! What do you use for mulch in the raised beds? Any thoughts about grass clippings or chipped leaves as mulch in raised beds? I've been throwing grass clippings in the compost. In December I get a huge flux of sycamore leaves so I'm thinking of getting a leaf chipper. Thanks again.

I use all kings of different things, but I like using compost as mulch in raised beds. Leaves are good, but with grass I would let it dry out first and be sure it doesn’t contain lawn chemicals or weed seeds

Thank you! Yeah, landscape fabric as I used is important to but down first under the rock either way, but it it’s a cool season sod like tall fescue or bluegrass it probably wouldn’t poke through either way.

Kyle. Dude, you did a really awesome job. Man I made a mistake by not putting cardboard down on the ground before I put in the mulch. Now all the weeds and grass are coming through. But still nice to have 4 garden beds all seeded up for spring. Keep up the good works. Super impressive.

the majority of the roots are in the to 12-18" of a plant this size, and anything deeper should continue downward
