I'm an ESL online teacher. I'm trying to create my own, interactive activities and games. I've been using Google drawings to create click and drag activities. However, when I share my screen, the students can see the Google tabs at the top, which the company I work for doesn't allow. Soooooo, what does it look like on the student's side? Like, If I did all these steps as you have done and assigned the worksheet to myself and then shared it through my video app, what exactly does the student see on their side? I'm looking for a way to make these so the student only sees the main, fixed background and the picture or text option which would then be moved in to their correct place. Thoughts?

I created a series of slides in a digital lesson. Some slides are meant to be read, and some have links to outside sites. I also made a drag/drop activity slide. In present mode, the icons won't slide, and I don't want to assign it in edit mode. (because I also created a second slide with a drag/drop animation to show the answers so students can self check). I hope that makes sense. I hope to post the slideshow in Google classroom as an assignment that serves as a lesson and an interactive (drag/drop).

How can I make it so that the draggable icons aren't resizeable? My students are getting frustrated when they grab it on the edge and it makes it huge or distorts it. In other words., How can i make it moveable without it being a text box? We use the background image all the time but if they have a lot of things to drag, this is a big issue.

Use a shape. If students are going to move it around, always use a shape and not a text box ... for the very reasons you mentioned. You can write text in them (double click to type) and when you click the middle of them to move, it's less likely to resize.

Ami Sowers If you did it in Slides, you could add a KZitem video to the slide that students could click on. However, you'd need to record the video and upload it to KZitem, which is likely more hassle than it's worth. Slides /Drawings wasn't created explicitly for what we're doing here, so it won't have every Bell and whistle, so to speak.

I get that educators have been greatly short changed during this pandemic and with little training or software resources have been forced to use free slide editors for kids wfh activities but as parent I with kids in grade 2 and K I ask you to please find another way to do this! If you must then do two things: 1. keep the shapes very large, most kids are working on small laptop screens at home and trying to move the shapes instead of resizing them is very difficult for most, explain to the children or their parents how to actually do the activity, how to switch to edit mode ok make a copy is not clear to somone who hasn't done it. Given the amount this is being deployed I'm disappointed that google has not came out with better tools that don't require you to edit a slide.

Is there a way to make the icon (or box) that the students move stay to give them a chance to use again? I am trying to create a "pocket chart" for my students who are building sentences in Spanish. In my old school paper pocket chart, I had multiple copies of behind each subject and/or high frequency words so that they could use them more than once if they came up with a compound sentence. I made a pocket chart with Mimio once, and was able to do this, but them mimio file can't be shared to students like the slides can.

Great idea! Could they just copy and paste the icon so they have multiple copies of it? You could even make copies for them and leave it in the space around the slide so they can drag it onto the slide.
