Learn how to create your first FPGA design in Vivado.
In this video, we'll show you how to create a simple light switch using the Digilent Nexys4-DDR FPGA development board.
Whilst conceptually simple, this particular exercise is powerful because it provides a step-by-step guide on how to create a fully functioning FPGA design from nothing. This includes describing the behavioural logic of our light switch in Verilog, specifying connections to the Nexys4-DDR’s physical I/O by creating design constraints, and then synthesizing and implementing the design in Vivado before loading it onto the Nexys4-DDR.
