Straight from the fashion design classes of Central St. Martins in London, I'm bringing you this creative patternmaking technique that is fantastic for sculptural and curved seams as well as 3D designs. Using only masking tape and tissue paper we create a 3D mold of the body and then draw out our design lines, forgetting about the usual "shoulder" and "side" seam constrictions. Even if you don't have a design project in mind, I absolutely love using this technique to jog my creative brain and get the mind flowing again.
I showed the technique to just above the high hip, but you can carry this technique down as far as you would like to create a full body dress with interesting seams and 3D effects. I really hope you like this tutorial and that you learn something watching it! If so, I would really appreciate a THUMBS UP so that others can find this video and you can always SUBSCRIBE so that others can find it as well!
