When you play, you are indeed reacting to the live signal. However, the microphone is capturing a different sound than your ear due to placement, amplitube, frequency response, room resonance, etc. Re-amping can actually help better match the recording to what your ear heard in the first place.
@ickebins6948

Exactly, all that "you react to the sound you're recording..." is BS because the mic is in front of the speaker, you are NOT! There are also alot of people playing at home and recording stuff at home, that don't have the luxury to have a cranked amp and then record it (because neighbors and landlords...)

When you reamp, you can play with the amp controls during playback, which is real hard when you're playing. Or use both your hands and your feet to trigger FX pedals. Or tweak FX pedals for different parts of a song. While you're playing, you can just focus on playing instead of all that stuff.

@@niclastname I have Neural Amp Modeler and hundreds of amps+settings I can play through my real amp. Recorded or realtime. I can run my pedals into the computer into a SLO100 sim and back into the power section of my amp. Or any number of ENGLs, Friedmans, Mesas, etc. Even a sim of my actual amp, just to make it meta. There are a lot of uses for a reamp setup.

Reamping should be called "repreprocessing", which is what you actually do with pedals, amps and so on. By the way, I don't like the concept either. But it's amazingly easy to do in Amplitube 5, using only an interface like the Scarlet 2i2, and it's pretty cool for trying a bunch of options. And then you do the take with the preprocessing chain you created / discovered. Great channel, man!

A little confused at fhe start Henning as you lulled me back to my youth with Mario bros music during the unboxing. I’m with you on getting a tone right at the start particularly for the performance. I like having a DI as a backup or for laziness when doing backing tracks (doubling tracks with a different amp). Mostly I “re-amp” in the box with plugins if I do it (again laziness avoids plugging in cables too). As a re amp box though this does look simple but flexible, might have to look at one.

I record a DI track and the effected signal out of my Synergy SYN-1 without the cab-simulation. That way I can play with the full signal chain in Amplitube or just change the cabs around and see what I like best. Most of the time just picking the right cab for my Synergy 5150 track is all I need to do.

I saw Andy video about this one lol I think your point is right about getting it right the first time. I don't have a reamp box, that said it seems to me that it have more benefit for home recording that an actual recording studio. Using the amp line out and IR ( most company just do V30 😑 not many do EV12L for example, or cheap speakers like my Celestion G12E-50 Rocket 50) I notice that if the tone is good on the DAW, is ugly in real life 🤣🤣🤣 but hey, it does work on mix! A Reamp box would actually help in this situation. With a mic the result are better, but my takes got the noise of the unplugged guitar. Of course, this is because I'm not in an optimal space for recording, and cant vol up or isolate my speaker right now. Reamp Box may help here too. I believe there are more scenarios where this tool could prove helpful. It's not a necessity, but is cool having one just in case.

Do you need reamping if you are recording in a large room with a shit ton of amps and a switcher you can easily record, maybe not. For us that can't record our tube amps at home it is useful so we can concentrate on playing and then get the sound better later or automate fx or use amp sims. Also the phase switch is needed when blending amps as each gain stage usually flips the phase 180.

Great video…of COURSE! But hmmm… not fully following the idea that reamping isn’t a pretty cool and useful idea & tool…especially where it would concern being able to use all of my cool pedals on my board as a post-production effect, rather than being forced to record them wet or end up using plugins just because they’re easier. Reamping gives you the opportunity to use all of those cool pedal board favorites freely when you mix. I kind of agree about using it with an amp, but utilizing the pedals is really kind of awesome! 🤷♂️😬

"Reamping" isn't restricted to "Reamping" a DI guitar signal through a different amp/mic/impulse response. A signal from absolutely anything that was recorded can be sent through any piece of "outboard" gear such as an entire pedalboard rig, compressors or anything else. I think the term reamping is the problem. An example would be all the cool stuff people are doing with kalimbas through "reamping". Some absolutely epic sounds are being created without anything remotely to do with guitar amplifiers in that context. We need some new terminology boys and girls.

This modelling tech has been around a while now, every new gadget get rave reviews from those paid to review gear, the Elephant, well large rectangular boxes in the room, tell a different story, why do all these reviewers not sell their Valve Amps, while they are still worth something, why would you need them, if you can download a software version of an Amp, nobody wants analogue recording equipment or VHS recorders, why are they hanging on to the fragile and heavy old tech?

Why all the swearing? It doesn't make you cool, or even get your points across with any added authority. It is totally unnecessary and sounds immature and unprofessional. You also come out with guns blazing on your philosophical musings on why you hate re-amping. So what? A re-amp box is simply a tool in one's toolbox. Why should I watch this if the whole things sucks from the get-go? You don't even know what the mute switch is for. Nine minutes in and I'm out...
