Well I am also new to credit cards but basic point to remember is: Use ideally 30% of your overall limit (e.g. my credit line limit is 4500€ so I set my credit line to 1500€ which I can use). From this 1500€, ideal credit utilization is 30% so around 450-500€ which I can easily pay off in FULL. Full payment is best option. I got my card to pay for gas and usual stuff, not to spend money I dont have. I just wanted something to build my credit but I did not want to buy some depreciating electronics on financing. Do not change your spending habits (if so, decrease them). Credit card is not your money.

What about how the credit bureau only looks for available credit? They don't care if you've used the card at all as long as you keep 70+ percent of you available credit open and unused. Interest is the least of your worries. If you spend above 30 percent of your available credit and leave it as a remaining balance the next statement period, your credit score goes down, regardless if you make the minimum payments on time. This is why so many people have low scores even though they pay on time on a balance that remains. That's an important key to the game. They think you have to actually spend on a credit card for your credit to grow. That's not how revolving credit works. That's how installment credit works.

Yes spending $150 would be 30% of $500. You’ll only pay interest if you don’t pay off the statement balance in full by the due date. So if it came to $150, then pay off $150 by the due date and you’re good to go

@stiingrayy
3 жыл бұрын
@@queenbri5534 You for sure need to spend money using your credit card in order to build your credit. There won’t be a statement balance since you did not use any money using your credit card. Let this be an example: You spend only $500 using your credit card for a month. You now owe $500 to the company that you’re using the credit card for and that is your statement balance. You pay the $500 in time and now your credit score increases gradually. If you do not spend money at all, there is no way for you to pay back money that you owe... since none was spent. If an account becomes inactive for too long (time length can depend on who you choose) the company will close your account, thus, will hurt your credit. Important Rule: DONT CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT!! It will hurt your credit score, so only do this when you already have a plan in mind. Don’t do it soon after getting an account. Hope this helps, good luck :)
