This album has a lot of controversy surrounding it. A lot of it has to do with the credit where it wasn't given. Mark wrote a lot of the lyrics and Stapp took a lot of the credit for songwriting when he had very little to do with it. That much was very well documented. As for how well it aged, respectfully, there are songs that are held in high regard as being the staple of Creed and the success that they had as a band. Mark has talked, in the past, about how My Own Prison was the focal point of their success which it ultimately was. Now, when you get further into it when Creed eventually split, you will see that the religious side of it had very much to do with Wind-up and what they eventually did to Amy Lee. There is so much controversy multiple books can be written on Creed and how I believe indirectly influenced an entire musical generation because of this album.

I thought that this album was ok. I like the title track. I would say Human Clay is a better album.

I'm in the same camp, though not about the title track. Not really a fan of any of the songs from this album

I like a decent number of Creed songs. On this album I’m pretty partial to Torn, The title track, Pity For A Dime, and Unforgiven. I’m also not religious, but I can appreciate Scott’s lyrics about struggling with his faith, especially on the title track

That's what I always come back to with Creed, the lyrics. I may not like Scott's voice much or agree with everything he's saying, but he always crafts his lyrics in an intriguing manner. There's a lot to learn from him in terms of lyric composition.

I'm not a fan of Creed, but I have to consider Mark, Brian and Scott's work. In fact, after I found out they were in that band, previously to AB, I needed to check it out; and besides I haven't connected with Stapp's lyrics and vocals, I liked some tracks along their discography. My Own Prison is currently not on my listening radar.

I'm in the same boat. Only a couple of songs were really worth listening to on repeat, but I can't say I'm seeking this record or others by Creed out much

Agreed about this album! Even when I was younger and not yet religious (Jewish), this album didn't sit well with me. I couldn't get into it and found that I was bored throughout. I did like the Weathered album which has a few really good songs.

I don't care for this album as much as the others from Creed, but Pity for a Dime is my fav from this album by far. I personally think Tremonti has one of his best solos ever from this song. I don't hear many solos like this from him.....the last one being Burn it Down. I loved it so much I learned how to play it and frankly I think the song let alone the solo is overlooked. But that's just me. I tend to almost never agree with your opinions especially the B-sides video "new way to live" is killer, but I love the content and I hope you continue with this style of videos. Just don't get burned out please :). So far you are the only KZitemr I have found besides reaction channels) that show how much they appreciate AB.

Thanks man, I appreciate your support even if we don't share the same opinions about the nitty gritty. That's what makes this whole channel worth it: getting to discuss a group I love with other fans whom I never would've met otherwise. I do plan to take a little break from Alter Bridge following this project, but they won't be gone from my channel for good

I can put the political aspects aside to enjoy a song so long as it's written in a creative way. If it's blandly put out there like "you should be pro life or pro choice" then I will probably avoid it but if it's sewn into the lyrics and not directly in your face it doesn't bother me regardless if it goes against my stances

Exactly, when the singer doesn't try to bury your face in their political views, it's a lot easier to look past them and appreciate everything else in a song.

Maybe you need further listens. Creed, if nothing else, had much more musical diversity than AB does now. While they do seem to change a bit album to album, Alter Bridge will reuse many things from track to track throughout each record. I love Alter Bridge for just that. I can pick an entire album for the mood I'm in. But Creed has always differed from song to song. Including on this album. To say they sound the same musically, feels short sighted. And more, to say Stapp's vocals change from song to song doesn't sit well either. That's one thing a lot of people seem to harp on, is that he always sounds the same. Which I also find comforting. I like that I know what to expect with Stapp on studio recordings. I still feel to this day, that My Own Prison, Human Clay, and Full Circle are masterworks for Mark, Flip, and Brian.

I think you missed a big point of this review. I talked about how Scott Stapp couldn't stick with one style across the record, and sometimes even within songs, not the other way around.

Human Clay is basically a perfect album and a hilarious litmus test for people who claim AB is great but Creed sucks because you can literally hear AB's best songs being conceived in the rafters of that album, Creed hate is for weak little baby homunculi

@@count3rcultured I'm saying I'm awaiting the Human Clay video to see if you have the same level of undue disdain for it, I was just saying it in a polite way. I have met my fair share of Alter Bridge fans who hate on Creed mindlessly and I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you simply disliked this album on its own merits.

Well I can tell you that I don't dislike Human Clay, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's perfect. I think Creed has some good aspects, but in my view, their music walked so Alter Bridge and Tremonti's music could run
