You did this right, Van!! Very few ever react to the long version of this CCR cover. Another long version you should react to is CCR's Suzie Q. A great song too. When I was 13 or 14, I saw CCR at the Budokan in Tokyo. It was 1971 or 72. All us siblings and my mom went and we sat on the upper level. Just before CCR came out, an earthquake rocked the stadium. We were hanging on to our seats while the building swayed. The the band came out. John Fogerty went to the mic and thanked the Japanese fans for such an awesome welcome, referring of course to the earthquake. Great memory.

Members are Doug Clifford (drums, percussion, backing and occasional lead vocals), Stu Cook (bass guitar, backing and occasional lead vocals, keyboards), John Fogerty (lead vocals, lead guitar, keyboards, harmonica, saxophone) and Tom Fogerty (rhythm guitar, backing and lead vocals) he died 1990. Every one of them were extremely talented.

@@markbrubaker466Yeah Mardi Gras was a collaboration because everyone was jealous of John. You can hear it in the snarky lyrics of Take It Like A Friend. John was the real talent, he wrote every note for every instrument in the band, then told the other 3 what to play on the other albums. They were literally overtaking the Beatles as biggest band in the world, but abruptly broke up.

LOL. You react the way WE ALL did whenever Creedence came on the radio or the jukebox back in the day. Remembering dancing in a circle of ladies in Golden Gate Park when someone turned this song waayy up on their radio. You could always count on CCR to get people up and dancing. Good times.

The lead singer is the lead guitarist which is John Fogerty. His brother, Tom is rhythm guitar. Creedence is one of my favorite bands.

The Temptations were a great Motown band and did this song. However Marvin Gaye wrote it. I’m glad you did the long version of this song. John and Doug really put soul into this song. Just listened to this album a couple days ago. Cosmo’s Factory is a great album but every one of their albums rock. Christmas of 69 changed my life. My grandmother gave me CCR’s first album. Thanks grandma, I will never forget you.

The twanging bass, deep hard drums and the consistent beat is so solid and a hell of a recording. Shame is when this was active on radio back then they rarely played this longer version as it was not in tune with the radio programming ad quotas. The part of song where they bring in the funky part blew me away and the way they wind it down. They had to play this how many times to make this the final product

I love if I find a cover of a great song that nails it and gives it a different treatment. Other awesome covers include Janis with "Me and Bobby McGee" and Johnny Cash "Sunday Morning Coming Down ", both Chris Christopher songs. I also enjoy the White Strpes "Jolene". CCR"s fame only lasted a little over four years (1967-early 1972) but they said more in a shorter time span than any band history. Facts and I stand by it. That being said, The Beatles run from 1963-1970 is unmatched by anyone.

The band are from El Cerrito San Francisco. John Fogerty's passion was the Louisiana Bayou's. He actually created Swamp Rock. Many people thought they were from the deep south. Listen to "Born On The Bayou" for example, John twists the sound of his words on many songs.

The Temptations recorded this song for one of their albums but did not have a hit with it. The most successful version of this song was done by another Motown artist, Marvin Gaye. This song has been a hit several times, most notably by Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and CCR.

I just have to tell you being a nurse in these times and coming home to relax.. after hot shower and have a glass of wine my wind down time is tuning into your channel and listening and watching you takes all the stress away from the day! Thank you!! 😁 keep us smiling!
