I like the idea of using PVC fittings. Nice touch putting the threads in the bottom.

Just found ya and subscribed. Watched this and the one before on making those threaded inserts On the Cheap ! That got my attention. lol. I’m just now learning a bit and barely starting and seriously on the cheap !! Gotta old harbor freight rig I was given for helping clean a garage. My lathe can’t do much right now with just the live tails piece and I do have a flat face disc to screw material to for bowls and such. No chucks so far,, but this evening I tore apart an old cordless drill for the chuck. I’m gonna modify it into a small Jacobs chuck to fit the tail piece. This video gives me ideas to use your threaded insert in place of a chuck for the other end. If that makes sense. lol. Love the Urn idea too. I live across the street from a funeral home and I’m friends with the owner. Possibility’s if I get any good and get better equipment. I really like your videos ! Most of the others are way technical and I think they like to hear them selves Talk. They Over explain everything ! Oh yeah, that Lathe of yours is a Beast ! I’ll be watching the rest of your vids fer sure 👍

Thank you so much for watching. I'm just getting started on the KZitem thing and am not technically savvy but trying to get better.i also started with the harbor freight unit but 4 years ago and after a year grew out of it to the Laguna 24/36 it's a beast compared to the harbor freight. What I like most about turning is figuring out different ways or things to complete projects with the lathe. Thanks for watching..(I'll get better with the videos 😊)

Hi, my name is mark. I'm from Maine h way up in the nwatch. I just caught your video on video on inserts. For crematory erns, my question is , How do you figure volume so you can size? You're urns

A cubic inch of ash is equal to one pound of live body weight. Now I have a box that is 5x5 inches square an has clear plastic on one side that is marked every inch. so one inch deep is 25 cubic inches. I just fill the urn with in my case tiny resin beads (but you can use cat litter or something similar) pour it in the measuring device and then you know how many cubic inches you have. Hope that helps? I think Sam Angelo (the Wyoming woodturner has a video on making one . Thanks for watching.

Well done. You may want to think about giving the tenon for the male thread just a little bit more space to give some room for the glue. Doesn’t need to be sloppy, but not quite so tight either. Nice bit of detail on the bottom of the “cap.”

Very nice. It wasn’t clear at first it was for the bottom, almost like a piggy bank. So the top “lid” is purely decorative.
