Servicemen of the tank division of the Central Military District, stationed in the Chelyabinsk region, conducted classes on underwater driving of armored vehicles, which is the most difficult
element of combat training.
The crews of the T-72 overcame water obstacles more than 50 meters wide, moving along the bottom of the reservoir at a speed of up to 8 km per hour with a dive to a depth of 4 - 5 meters. Tankers worked out actions in the event of a flooding of a combat vehicle,
oxygen starvation, damage by toxic substances and a blast wave. Under water, tankers operate armored vehicles along the bottom of the reservoir without
shifting gears, stopping and taking sharp turns, focusing only on the instruments.
Tankers are equipped with individual rescue equipment, isolating breathing apparatus IP-5, which allows the tank crew to be under water for about 1 hour.
