There are a few choices. On my 290NOC, the light has a wire that is routed to the back of the neck and, then submerged, the light starts to flash. If you look at the end of the wire (opposite end from the light) you'll see a small rectangular box. That box has two small electrodes. When both are wet, the light starts to flash. So, lick your finger and touch the two electrodes. Also, if you look closely you'll see a manual push switch. Press it once and the light comes on, again and it goes off. It's a good idea to practice turning the light on and off manually in a pool. Also, practice manually bursting the zipper and orally inflating the PFD. Finally, practice fitting the sprayhood in place. It may sound geeky to do this, but at least do it in your living room. Doing so could save your life.
