im a learner offroad and been thinking of picking up a tuareg, but after seeing your pace through this section, i think the 300rally will do me fine

The Rally is an excellent bike once you upgrade the suspension. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you plan to make that upgrade. It’s too limited to really progress on without that. But once that’s done, it has a lot of advantages compared to other bikes if you want a lighter machine that’s road riding capable. The only bike I would rather have for what I do is a KTM 690 Enduro R with a rally shield to help block wind. That’s the next step up from this bike in my eyes, but the price increase isn’t worth it for me right now.

@@NatePoeppel yeah, I’ve already budgeted for suspension upgrades. I’m thinking if it’s something I really get in to maybe I’ll upgrade to a middle weight adv in 2-3 years, and hopefully by that time someone has released a good 500-700cc adv style bike that is sub 175kg 🤞

@@slakk5093 Nice! I’m on the same plan right now, honestly. I think we’re going to see some really cool options come out in the next few years.

@@NatePoeppel I think so too, hopefully the success of the 300L/Rally convinced Honda that there is a big market for lightweight low maintenance adv bikes (and I’m sure Yamaha is watching too 👀)

Nice! Not sure what the trail is called, but it’s right by the Superstitions near Gold Canyon.

I haven’t had a downhill big enough lately to know this answer haha. I’m really not concerned about TOP speeds if I can’t reach them in normal situations. It was going around 75 on a flat a few days ago. Since the bike is lacking in power, the wind, road surface, incline, etc play pretty large roles in that 60-80 mph performance. Like I said in the video, the main reason I did the change was to keep the bike under 7000rpm when I ride at 65-70. From a gearing perspective, 15/40 would allow for a higher speed than 14/39. I believe 1 tooth up in the front is like going down 2.5 teeth in the rear.

@@NatePoeppel / OKAY , you need lower RPM ... but the max speed it can be obtained with the original 14/40 configuration only ....because one tooth less at rear (39) I can't rev up (RPM) to get to 140 km/h ( GPS Garmin Zumo) / BEST lower RPM but not max speed /// THX!
