At 21:30: “someone’s pinched my glasses”! Can’t imagine commentary like that in this day and age

Aren't all wickets "the one England wanted", otherwise they would refuse a few.

The 67/68 test at Port of Spain (England 2nd innings) gives an indication how Gillette cup games were played in the 60's!

85 needed in an hour at 4 an over. So wow, Windies bowling at 21 overs an hour back then, instead of half that in the 80's.

Im new to cricket and have asked this before with no answer,,Why do the fielders stand so so close to the batter? and then have to run to stop the ball from rolling to the boundary.Why don't some fielders go stand out in the field?
@AshokSridharan

The fielders standing close to the batsman are positioned to take catches, not to stop runs. The fielding captain has to decide whether to set an attacking field with plenty of catchers or a defensive field to stop the flow of runs

Really clever captains hide fielders in the crowd so they can catch out batsmen in disguise

@@AshokSridharan Thanks, that really makes since. the reward of an out is worth more than the risk of runs due to the high scoring game? Baseball and cricket are so dissimilar in many ways. To understand one,you have to forget about the other. That same run risk-out ratio only applies sometimes in baseball
@AshokSridharan

RES 33 don’t know about baseball, but in test cricket (the long version of the game) a few runs don’t matter much. Fielding sides are usually much happier getting wickets, even if it be at the cost of runs

There's also a degree of foreshortening, they are close but maybe not as close as it looks.
