In August I filmed my mother-in-law's mother's funeral, in Baojiazhai, a small village in Qinghai, north-western China. In the video I did not give any explanations to anything, and so, a couple of weeks after, I sat down with my mother-in-law and asked some of the many questions I had about their local funeral and mourning customs. This is part 2/2, where we talk about crying, laughing, a funeral sketch, funeral music (the Suona), making your own coffin in your sixties, preparing the coffin for the deceased, and then finally the burial - where my mother-in-law and her sisters had to break away from local customs, since they had no brothers in the family.
