Keuchly retired after the 2019 season. Smart move. He avoided the covid season of 2020 and didn't have to play with the NFL'S version of the White Sox

I like the point Chris makes about Eli. If we weigh SBs so heavily for QBs (which I personally think is unfair in a team game), then Eli has a very strong argument for the HOF.

QB is by far the most important position to a team in professional sports. Eli came through in the biggest moment in the biggest game, twice. He's a HOF. - Patriots fan

I feel like the media doesn't really care about the opponent for SB winning QBs, but in Eli's case, he beat one of the greatest teams of all time. That has to be some sort of extra credit, right?

The arguments against him being in the Hall are ridiculous. No Super Bowl wins? See also: Fouts, Dan. And on and on. Kenny Anderson was a great player. Period. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Now. Ask the other QBs of his era, and the DBs he played against. I've not heard ANY of them say Anderson should not be in.

@@juanortuno565 They had some really high-scoring battles. The Chargers’ defense probably kept them from 2-3 Super Bowl appearances. But for those who said the Bengals had an unfair advantage in the Freezer Bowl (which I attended), the Bengals beat the Chargers in San Diego that season too. It was scary how fast the Chargers could score with Jefferson, Winslow, and Joiner (whom they got from the Bengals!). Tremendous offense but a second-tier defense.

If Marshawn Lynch is a no-brainer, Tiki Barber should get in. Barber has more rushing yards, more receiving yards. Lynch has six seasons with 1k rushing yards, same as Barber. Major difference…Barber finished his career with five straight seasons of 1200 or more rushing yards whereas Marshawn’s final five totaled 1700 yards.
@LukeHale-cc7fk

Barber has 36 more rushing yards than Lynch according to Pro Football Reference, while Lynch has 85 Rushing touchdowns alone and Barber has 67 total combined touchdowns. Lynch also has a super bowl ring including a few legendary runs of which have nicknames due to how iconic they were. Lynch is also on the NFL 2010s all decade team which is to say he was 1 or 2 of the best running backs over a 10 year span. That should be enough I would say
@Chalk89

@@LukeHale-cc7fk I'm not disputing if Lynch is/isn't a HOFer, just the notion that he's a no-brainer while Barber is viewed as a longshot. Yes, he has 36 more rushing yards...on 236 fewer carries. As for touchdowns, Lynch has 43 that were from three yards or fewer. Reason I highlight that - Tiki Barber's numbers would have been exponentially higher except Brandon Jacobs was brought in for short yardage and scored 15-touchdowns from three yards or shorter during their two years together. I know it's nitpicking but in the era of 'stats reign supreme,' and being annoyed by it in real time, it definitely hurts Barber. Lastly, his antics, personality is why I believe he's remembered as a better player than he was. Lucky for him he was on a team that had one of the best defenses ever.
@LukeHale-cc7fk

@Chalk89 I agree with you then. I don't think either are no-brainers. It makes me wonder though how Running backs will be judged for HOF induction ever since the league has gone so pass heavy. Even the top RBs run for more than 1500 yards anymore.

Collinsworth currently the best color analyst in the game today. How he can in real time see and then seconds later highlight a key play or player that made that play work and also draw it up on the telestrater is amazing. He has no peers in that skill. Brady said the hardest part he’s having is dumbing down describing the plays where the viewers can understand. Other former players turned analyst not having any problem with that. I think he’s too dumb to be able to dumb it down to make it understandable. He’s assuming the viewers are all dumb. Eli 100% first ballot HOF.

For skill position players the statistics should matter most and then the eye test. I believe an easy yardage bar could be set for the non-QBs to make entrance into the NFL HOF automatic. For players who both returned kicks and played receiver or running back the bar should be at 15,000 yards for entrance into the HOF. For those RBs, WRs, and TEs who did not return kicks 13,000 yards should be the bar to beat to gain automatic enshrinement. Look at the number of players currently on the all-time list of NFL players to pass either the 15,000 all-purpose yard mark and the 13,000 scrimmage yard mark and say they're not HOF material. There are only 51 players currently who have more than 13,000 yards from scrimmage for a career on their resume, and only an additional 5 players not from that list who make it to the 15,000 all purpose yard mark. All those players deserve to be in the HOF. It is a shame how QBs get selected these days. How can anyone suggest Eli Manning and not talk Jim Plunkett if playoffs are the criteria? Winning percentage, franchise records, NFL records, Pro Bowls, All Pro years, cumulative statistics, playoff success, game achievements should all be bigger factors for QBs other than Super Bowl wins, which could still be a contributing factor (just not the end all).
