True I swear at the pubs in my area , some have good chefs who actually put effort in their food. Others literally give you frozen BS and charge you 3 times the price. Like I’m fine paying a restaurant mark up and tip but not for some frozen stuffs

Tip for extra crispiness: when you've par-boiled the potatoes, spread them out on a tray and wait for them to stop steaming before you do anything else

as someone who cooks, there's no way in hell im giving all my recipes 10/10, some of them just ain't perfect but that's okay bc they still taste nice, not every recipe is gonna be a 10/10 but if it's something lower than 6/10 then it's not worth it imo, everything should taste at least good & above average i don't like spending a ton of money on my food so my motto is “do it simple but great”

@@HurryUpGrandma Instead of using real stock, I use a bullion cube or "Better than Bullion" paste in my potato water instead of chicken stock. However, if I'm going to use the chicken stock for some other part of that nights meal or later on in the day, real stock for SURE, since I'm going to have it out in a pot anyway! To other comment readers, yes, it does add flavor to your potatoes. Anything you cook your potatoes in will impart some flavor as the salt penetrates the cells of the potato. You can also just add spices/seasoning to normal water, if you don't want to use stock/bullion and it will also give the insides of your potato a bit of extra flavor! To take this to an extreme, look up a recipe for Fondant Potatoes. (Chef Jon from Food Wishes has a great video/recipe.)
