Williams brothers! Watched them come up and so proud of what they've done. I love the thumbnail too, but the mistake everyone makes is that if the Williams brothers are in the race, you NEVER let it come down to a field sprint. Ha!

Any interview with Cory Williams (or Justin) that doesn't address them and rest of L39ion racing dirty and encouraging dangerous racing tactics is a disservice to the cycling community. There's so much evidence of them actively endangering other people with reckless, intimidating tactics putting them on any sort of pedestal isn't a good move

Exactly. People want to say l39ion just “races hard” there’s a massive difference between running someone off the road and actually racing hard. Not to mention these guy continuously get in actual physical fights with other riders but since the color of their skin we cannot talk about the truth. Sad world we live in.

I liked what Cory said about upgrading categories. I was involved in a nasty pileup when I was a Cat 4 and I asked to be upgraded from racing experience. I didn’t want to race Cat 4 and they upgraded me to a 3. I did ok as a 3, but feel it stunted my growth as a racer. Enjoy the process, know crashes are inevitable in all categories, and have fun. Great interview. Thanks again Roadman Cycling Podcast and Cory Williams.

It's one thing to upgrade from 3 to 2 and race with the Pros and 1s, and a whole 'nuther thing to upgrade from 4 to 3. If that stunted your growth as a cyclist, I would suggest looking inward to figure out why it didn't work for you. I can't count the number of top racers and top coaches who suggest getting out of the 5s and 4s as quickly as possible. As it was explained to me many years ago when I asked a pro I knew the question of whether to move up, he put it very simply: you can't learn to race by racing with people who don't know how to race.

@@scotth3354 It’s a good point you made for sure. I just like Cory’s approach to stay in a category until you get thrown out. That way, you know you’re mentally and physically ready to make the next step.

@@timmaros2095I’m late to this party but from myself coming from a basketball background and playing in college. I grew way more as a player playing against top college guys in scrimmages when I was in high school than playing the JV team in practice. I get that crashing doesn’t happen in basketball but that’s part of the sport in cycling you have to accept it.

@@molon___labe Hi. Thanks for responding. The crash was scary, but what I do not recommend is to level up without the necessary points. Taking shortcuts is never recommended in this sport. Cycling is a sport that needs dedication, persistence, and patience to improve. I like Corey’s idea of racing in a category until USA Cycling throws you out. It seems very talented riders like Jack and Eli Watson from BRB are on the same plan.

Great interview. There's some that obviously hate Legions dominance and the success that these guys have accomplished. They have done a great job in building a brand and increasing diversity in racing. Are their tactics always great? Apparently not. Do they dominate races because of their massive presence? Yes. Have they been a part of increasing the popularity of American Crits and bringing more money into the sport? I would think yes. Haters will hate just like many did for Tiger or Dale Earnhardt or Max Verstapen or Serena Williams but they are all game changers for their respective sports.

I have never met a racist cyclist in my 30 years of competitive cycling certainly in the UK. In fact i would say that cyclists are annoyingly liberal in every sense of the word, both the new communist liberal and the old style proper liberals. It's just really sad to hear that he feels like that.

His example of racism was just a disagreement..... coming from a guy who minutes before was talking about an aggressive fist fight.... seems to be the kettle calling the pot black. If you insist racism is everywhere, people will see it in every transaction they have. This has been studied and proven, and why this sort of narrative is more divisive than cohesive..

wow... love your channel but this was horrible timing for this "guest". 99% of your competition can be eliminated if you fill most the field with your team (Legion and their umbrella team riders) and also anyone that can challenge Cory in the sprint get taken out by Justin... great guest LOL Also I know you are not racing in the SOCAL / USA with these guys but they are Instagram "pros" at best. 99% of their races is in office park cries doing p/1/2/3 that also have masters (most times on their second or third race), juniors and some women. Then any race that is P/1 only you have most team with 6 riders vs Legion with 12-18 (aka aviators etc). A total shit show of drinking koolaid. Really sad you wasted time here.
