The easiest way to decrease the size is using a smaller hook or thinner yarn. You can also start with a shorter chain and then remove an equal amount of stitches from each row, balancing them across the beginning and end. For example, if you chain 2 less than remove 1 stitch from the beginning and 1 stitch from the end of each row. Thanks for watching!

In your second and third rows. How do u get to 35stiches. I get 32.
@woodcampercrochetcrafts
Жыл бұрын
Hello thank you for your comment. You get 35 stitches because you are increasing in row 2. You start the patterns by chaining 32. You end up with only 31 stitches in row 1 because you skip the first chain and start in the second chain from your hook which leaves you with 31 stitches in the first row. In the next row you increase 4 times which gives you 4 extra stitches from 31, so at the end of row 2 you have 35 stitches. In row 2 you are doing 2 single crochets in the first stitch (1st increase), followed by 13 single crochets. You then place 2 single crochets in the next stitch (2nd increase) and 2 single crochets in the stitch after this one (3rd increase). You then do 13 single crochets followed by 2 single crochets in the next stitch (4th increase). Your last stitch in the row is a single crochet for a total of 35 stitches. Hope this helps. I have been told by other viewers that I skip over row 3 pretty quickly so if you are fast-forwarding the video you may miss row 3. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

The pattern is for 0-3 months. If you want to make them bigger or smaller the easiest way is to adjust the size is by changing the weight of your yarn or size of the hook. If you are using thicker yarn than the pattern and a larger needle they will turn out bigger.

Booties look very nice. I have a dilemma. I a 3month old nice, and a nephew who will be born at the end of August and wants make booties for them. I preparation I bought white and pink Angora from Italy. I want to use it for the booties. The Angora is thin like a #3 crochet thread. Do you know if I should use two strands of Angora together to represent the 4 ply yarn you used in your pattern? Also what size hook would I use? TIA
@woodcampercrochetcrafts
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. The yarn sounds lovely but I am not sure how a thinner yarn will work with this pattern. If you want to try I would recommended going down a size or half size with the hook. I would then do the first step (chain) using the correct hook and size yarn so you know the length you need. You can then adjust the pattern (add more stitches) to match the length. The yarn I use in this video comes in lots of colours and is very inexpensive so perhaps buy it in a different colour and save your thinner yarn for another project. Thanks for watching and happy crocheting.

Sorry to hear it didn’t work out. If you used different yarn that is probably the problem. I find that all yarn is different depending on the company. It really depends on the yarn. I find that not all yarns are created equal when it comes to weight, it really depends on the brand. A lighter weight yarn will definitely make them smaller so you may have to modify the pattern by added a few stitches to the rows and increasing the number of rows.

How do u change the pattern if the hook size doesn't make it small enough
@woodcampercrochetcrafts

You can start with a shorter chain and remove stitches from the beginning and end of each row.
@melindamuir1609
Жыл бұрын
@woodcampercrochetcrafts Well in the pattern where it says 2blosc is that what u mean Because I have started with a smaller hook and less chains but figuring out the count is throwing it off
@woodcampercrochetcrafts
Жыл бұрын
@melindamuir1609 the easiest thing to do is to shorten the chain by two so instead of 32 you would chain 30. In row 1 you would still start in the second chain so you have 29 sc instead of 31 then in every row do not do the first stitch and the last stitch in each row so if the first stitch in the row is 2sc just do 1 sc. Hope this helps.
@melindamuir1609
Жыл бұрын
@woodcampercrochetcrafts so don't do the 2sc only on the ends but won't that make the number count different for the sc2togeher off as well? It just seems like it's going to mess up the bump being centered
@woodcampercrochetcrafts
Жыл бұрын
@melindamuir1609 the bump will still be in the middle. The only place you would modify the pattern is at the beginning and the end of each row. Drop one stitch at the beginning and drop one stitch at the end. All other stitches are the same. For example row 2 starts with 2 sc in the first stitch in the row. Drop one stitch which means instead of doing 2 sc just do 1 sc. In the second last stitch in the row you are doing 2sc in the last stitch it calls for 1 sc. Do not do the last stitch in the row so you are not doing the 1 sc which means the final stitch in the row are 2sc. If you start with a chain 30 instead of 32 and drop 1 stitch at the beginning and 1 stitch at the end your total count will be less 2 for each row, everything else stays the same. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for watching. I am sorry they were too big. If you use the same yarn and hook they should turn out the correct size. You had me worried so I just checked the video. At 6:01 you will see the written instructions for Row 3. I don’t demonstrate this row because it is just 35 single crochets working in the back loop only. 😁 The instructions for row 3 aren’t displayed very long so easy to miss.

No problem at all. It took me a bit to find it too. Lesson learned for my next video. I will make sure it isn’t so quick!

I appreciate the feedback. I don’t want to confuse people so it is good when people let me know so I can make changes to videos going forward.

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time. If you go on my channel I have a video on how to add ribbing which might help. What part are you having a hard time with? Definitely use stitch markers if you aren’t already using them.

I say with much kindness that the stitch count is off by 1 starting in row 9. I did think it was me so I did the row 2 more times & still off by 1 stitch. I added 1 to compensate but same with row 11 then I quit. So sorry.

I’m loving this but why on the first row I keep on getting 30 not 31 , i chained 32 skipped the second st but not getting 31. What am I doing wrong ?
@woodcampercrochetcrafts
Жыл бұрын
If you chained 32 and skipped the first you should have 31 stitches. It is hard to know what is wrong without seeing it. If that keeps happening I would recommend chaining 33 so you have 31 to begin with or chaining 32 and not skipping the first stitch. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. Some questions really require me to see the work.

I am sorry to hear that they turned out too small. I recommend using the same yarn and hook in the video. I find that not all yarns are created equal so it might be the yarn you used is too thin. Sorry they didn’t work out.
