Thank you so much!! I have such a hard time reading patterns and strongly prefer videos, otherwise I find I often have to have help in terms of someone else reading it and then showing me how it works. My brain fog from fibro/depression etc makes focusing on written patterns too difficult in most cases. I've been wanting to make something like this and have had such a hard time finding videos I can follow and this is perfect. I've never made clothes before so while I was hoping for a more intricate looking option such as a pineapple stitch or something, this looks like a perfect starting point. ♡

Lovely tutorial Sarah-Jayne! I wasn’t able to access the pattern through your link. It went to the Love Crochet site and said “Oops we cant find what you’re looking for. However, I was able to find it on the Yarnspirations website. Another thing I noticed is the pattern says to use a Size K (10 1/2) 6 mm crochet hook. A 6 mm crochet hook in US terms is a J hook, not a K. Yarnspirations usually never makes that kind of an error. Or maybe I’m missing something. So I am with you. I’d definitely do a gauge swatch. Thanks for sharing!

@bellacococrochet
5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm so happy to hear my videos have helped you 🙂 With this pattern it's important to meet the tension gauge or you might find that your finished garment doesn't fit correctly; so you might find with a 9mm hook that it would end up too large. One option would be to make a smaller size, however I can't guarantee the result. I do think you will need more yarn though: the pattern states that for size small/medium, you need 8 braids of yarn at 127 yards each. Hope this helps 🙂

Have just made this and am so happy with it. However, my squares did come out a little wonky, why might this be?
@bellacococrochet
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Joanna It sounds like your squares just need blocking, and it’s really common to need to do this 😊 You can simply use pins to stretch the squares into shape, and then for acrylic yarn use an iron held a few inches away to very carefully blast steam which will set the squares into shape. If you have used cotton or wool yarn you can just dampen the squares before you pin them and let them dry naturally.
@salamanda11

I just started a project with this yarn the other day, and I’m actually disappointed in it. The fibers come apart while working, which makes it hard to crochet with. Hello Bella! In the tutorial & Love Crafts it says 8 braids but in you downloadable US pdf pattern it says 10 braids... Which one is the correct one? Thanks, Shaima

Hi Shaima, you will need to use 8-14 braids depending on the size you want to make 🙂

@@bellacococrochet Thanks so much for replying. Yes I know but I meant the small size everywhere it says 8 but in the US pattern PDF link it's 10.. I thought maybe I'd bring this to your attention, maybe a typing error. Thanks, Shaima

Shaima M in that case, Caron may have made changes to their own pattern which is out of my control. Please follow the pattern instructions x

@@shayoum I had the same issue. I live in the USA. I bought 8 and made size Small. It worked out fine. 😊

I used Caron x Pantone which is a chunky weight blend of acrylic, nylon and merino wool that’s easy to work up and machine-washable :)

how do you close the square at the end one each one?

You should join with a slip stitch and then fasten off your yarn, before sewing in your end 😊
