Thank you for this very fine video. I had some problems from the 6th row reg finding the correct insertions due to very irregular stitches, I think. I wonder if there are some chains or stitches that must be worked, for instance all ch2's or the center of 3 dc-clusters or something? I'm seeking for some rules to guide me to stay on the right track in spite of troublesome stitches. Thanks again, you are very good.
@jspcreate

You are welcome. On Round 6, you are only working into every second stitch and chain spaces count as a "stitch" in this circumstance. This is the transition round from the first squaring off of the flower shape into a border. We want to have a sc and ch-2 pattern across each edge for this round. This is achieved by sometimes working into a stitch and sometimes a ch-sp. It can seem confusing, so follow the video step by step. However the pattern is to consider both stitches and chain spaces as the same and to only work into every second one with a chain 2 worked in between the stitches and over top of the skipped stitch. Hope this helps. There is a written pattern on my blog if you need to read that Round in pattern form. Thanks for watching.

Your technique for joining the single crochet without having the extra bulk I believe the technical term is “standing single crochet“ stitch
@jspcreate
6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much, yes it is a version of a standing single crochet. Usually the original form has a slip knot to start on the hook, but I do it without the slip knot because I like less bulk. So I hesitate to call it that because of this difference, basically though you are right, it is a standing single crochet minus the slip knot. Thanks so much for watching, Enjoy 😊
@rhondamorton
6 ай бұрын
@@jspcreate I agree, it can get bulky I think people use the slipknot within their standing stitches to attach to reinforced the strength of the connection of the new fabric to the project, making it less likely to unravel….. at least that’s my theory, I have done it both ways…. It’s comfortable and useful stitch especially if you prefer to have a normal shaped stitch rather than a chain as a stitch😀
@jspcreate

It really is a nicer join, I dislike knots, so I tend to weave yarn around the stitches as I work them, as much as possible. So glad you are enjoying the videos 😊

What beautiful color combinations. I love the stitch definition from this yarn but I'm unable to find what brand of yarn has been used both in the video and on your blog. The colors and weight of yarn used for these squares are stated clearly but no mention of the brand. What did I miss?? Thank you for the awesome tutorial. I look forward to learning about the yarn used.

So glad you like the square, the crochet hook is a Susan Bates Silvalume Ergonomic. I love them because the grip is comfy and resilient and the hook has length to it. I use them everyday and the grips are still in great shape. I have picked mine up at my local Michaels.

@@jspcreate that’s great thank you for telling me the name of that hook, I’m dealing with arthritis and osteoporosis in my hands and wrists, and I have begun researching hooks and don’t like shopping online typically because you can’t get a realistic view of the product…. I’ll be sure to check Michael’s craft store more often. I don’t recall seeing that particular hook before…… perhaps they have a quick product turnover& I would be surprised if that is the case!

Could I weave the ends as I go, or would it be too long compared to weaving after?
@jspcreate
6 ай бұрын
I weave my ends as I go all the time now (except when I am working a tutorial on camera). I am a bit of a numbers girl, so I have timed myself both ways lol and it is faster for me to work them in as I go now that I'm used to it. It is also soooo nice not to have to go back at the end and work all the ends in. When the square is finished, it is actually finished, such a good feeling.
