Hi Sarah I would just like to say a huge 'thank you' for your easy to follow tutorials. I have been knitting since the age of 8 & consider myself experienced & the more detail the better, plain knitting bores me easily. I've always wanted to crochet since a little girl but can't follow patterns & told myself Id have to settle with my knitting , I went to a local craft shop which held lessons weekly, as lovely as the ladies were it was more of a 'get together' for regulars & found it difficult to get help. I was told of your tutorials & thanks to you I've made several small items for family my next project is going to be a blanket for my legs to keep me warm whilst I'm crocheting 😀 I am disabled & unable to work so crochet is my hobby now. Once again a huge thank you for your tutorials coz now something I've wanted to do as a little girl has become a reality Regards Suzanne

I am so happy you posted this tutorial. I was planning on making a willow square blanket I saw on Pinterest as a gift for someone, but I can't seem to understand how to read patterns. Also, you're not the only one. I also count my stitches backwards or I'll get confused :)

Love this square and like always, your tutorials are the best! Just wanted to point out that in the written directions that pop up on the bottom of the screen, it has us chaining 3 twice. That second “3 chain” should be a “chain 2.”

What you referre to as a nodule is called at Picots. There is a very good video on Every Trick on the Hook about how to make these and then how to crochet into them on the next round. Not being critical just FYI for anyone who would like to know.

Miss Bella, I hope you know my confusion on how you say on round four that you ss in 5th ch, skip 2, Dc, ch 2, skip 2, ch 3, dc, when you Dc whenever you finish a ch 3 or 2. To further ask, you do ch 2, dc, then ch 3, Dc, and ch 2, but in the pause area you say ch 3 again. Please don't take this the wrong way, I just wish to clear my confusion.

You slip stitch into the 5th chain, skip 2, double crochet, chain two, skip two, double crochet, chain three, skip two, double crochet, chain two, skip two, double crochet and then chain 5 again and repeat from the top Hope this helps!

Hi Sara. I keep ending up with not enough stitches at the end of round 4. Can you tell me how many stitches I should have after I slip stitch round 3, 46 or 45? I know I need 48 stitches including the original chain 3 but once I slip into the 3rd chain it should be less, I think. I know my first two rows are correct because I have 16 trebbles. Any advice is appreciated, I've frogged this square so many times now. The funny part is last week I completed the pattern first try. I think I'm losing my mind lol!
@bellacococrochet

At the end of round three you should have 48 stitches - slip stitching into the top of the chain 3 doesn't make a difference to the stitch count, as we count this starting chain as a stitch 😊 I would make sure that you're working 2 trebles into the chain spaces and not 1 as this will affect your count.

Hi! Newbie crocheter here. I was wondering what you do if you don't intend on switching colors? I saw this used in solid colored squares and it was beautiful but have no idea how to just continue the pattern (or do I just end up with loose ends to tie in anyway?) Thank you so much!
@bellacococrochet

You can absolutely work this in one colour; instead of tying off and cutting your yarn, after you’ve joined your round you just need to make chain stitches and continue with the next round 😊

I keep watching this and I keep seeing you skipping 3 trebles, not 2 ... I count 2 and then you skip over a 3rd so I'm really confused at if I'm supposed to skip 2 or 3... words and visuals don't match up but then I read the comments and it seems I'm the only person seeing you skip 3 so I must be nuts. So, I watch again ... and every time you count 1, 2 and then hop over the 3rd treble again. I don't understand.

I think you might be referring to the part at around seven minutes - I can see why you might think I'm skipping three stitches, but if you look closely you can see that the very first stitch has actually been worked into, it's just that by pulling the work to one side in order to give a clear view, it pulls the stitch slightly away 😊

I find these instructions difficult to follow as you don't explain clearly. So decided to follow written instruction on the bottom of the screen and that does not either. Into the next (next what space or stitch). You started stating which then stopped. Written instructions have bits missed out of them which were in the video.
@bellacococrochet

I'm sorry you find this tutorial difficult to follow. In round 3 you should be working into the tops of the trebles and the chain spaces in-between; in round 4 when I say space I am referring to the stitches (the tops of the trebles from the previous round). I will take a look at the written instructions to see if I can make them clearer but I hope this helps in the meantime 😊

I would look at the beginning round of your Willow Square and double check that you have the correct amount of trebles in round 1 - if you have too many this will throw the rest of the pattern off 😊
