Crocus Hall is a terrorist attack. Well, that's it...
On March 8, the U.S. Embassy in Russia warned that terrorist attacks are possible in Moscow in the next two days. "The embassy is monitoring reports that extremists are planning to attack large gatherings of people in Moscow in the near future, including concerts, and US citizens are advised to avoid large crowds for the next 48 hours," the US diplomatic mission said in a press release. The State Department has raised the danger level of travel to Russia to the maximum, the fourth. The same warning was duplicated by the British Foreign Office.
The terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall (Krasnogorsk) occurred on March 22, 2024 at about 20:00 Moscow time. The attack was accompanied by mass shooting and explosions, four attackers opened fire on those in the building, killing at least 137 people (three of them children) and injuring more than 180 people. As a result of arson and explosions, the concert hall building was almost completely destroyed.
The attack became one of the largest terrorist attacks in the history of modern Russia, second only to the terrorist attack in Beslan (2004) in terms of the number of victims. Russian President Vladimir Putin declared March 24 a day of national mourning. The attack also drew international condemnation.
