How much should be on the button? I think we're using too much because we end up with a bunch of powder on the board after a few shots. Howe much should be visible? A few grains? 50% covered? Is it acceptable to breathe on the piece so it has some moisture to pick up more wax? Should we have to dust the board every round?

How do you keep the granulated wax from getting all over the house? Just need to know! It is VERY effective! Thank you!
@TraceyBoards

Good question! Some people keep a garbage nearby to dump the wax into when they’re done playing to minimize the amount that gets on the floor, or you can sweep it up and put it back into the shaker 😁

@@TraceyBoards thank you! It is amazing! When I put a wide lid flat on a table with some wax on it it was as if the lid was alive! You never actually hold anything with exactly same pressure on both sides! So it started to move! (Don’t want it under my feet 😁)!

i just bought a crokinole board. not an expensive one. but the only available in my country. so since i dont know the basics. so i thought the easiest way would be just to use powder . but i dont really have options since the game is rare here. i can only find caroom powder mostly. and sun-glo Shuffleboard wax. any help

I know you say that sprinkling wax on the board leads to snowplowing which is possible but easily remedied by brushing some of it off. We like to play with a liberal amount of gliss on the board, lightly salted. When I watch videos of tournament games, I can't see any gliss on the board. What is the etiquette for using gliss in tournaments and when players prefer different amounts of gliss on the board? Also, when we apply gliss to just the buttons, it gradually builds up on the board anyway. Are they actively brushing off the gliss in tournaments?

it is pretty common to see a player wipe the wax off from right in front of themselves especially when they want to do a hit and stick. I feel like it is kind of understood in tournament play that the players are not supposed to sprinkle wax onto the playing surface but I am not sure there is a hard and fast rule about it. I've never seen anyone get too uptight about it in either direction.

In Ireland using gliss.. seemingly a fine silicone powder, used in much the same way you are using wax it would appear.

I don't think should be an issue for you. I have a friend who waxes his board more often than he plays (slight exaggeration) and it doesn't seem to be an issue.

Hi Jeremy my wife purchased your tour board for me. And I'm excited to receive it. Just wanted to know does the granular wax scratch the playing surface on your boards. And also do you recommend waxing your playing surfaces to keep it in great shape. Thanks for the great video.

With regular play you can use the granular wax without any concern of damage. If you were to grind a disc across the top with a ton of pressure you could do damage. If you see anyone do that to your board, slap them LOL. Re: upkeep. I use Mothers California Gold and absolutely love it. Super easy to use and makes your board nice and slick :-)

Hi Jeremy! I'm relatively new to the game and just actually purchased my first board that should arrive Thursday (unfortunately not one of yours yet but that will come in time ) im on a bit of a budget at the moment and was curious if carrom powder could suffice for the button powder or is it too abrasive? And would any car wax work for maintaining the board integrity or mother brand needed? What do you recommend? Please and thank you

I can't speak to what wax is ideal for boards other than Tracey Boards. Assuming you are in the US I believe the wax that is more easily available to you that is most similar to the wax we use is the Sunglo number 7. It would be best to check with the manufacturer and get their guidance or ask someone else who has the same board as you. It is very likely that the wax we use is A-OK but I can't promise it.

Thank you! Yes I live in New York State I haven't bought power yet but I did end up getting the mother's wax and it works quite nicely the buttons fly sometimes a little too well! But I'm also noticing you get a bit of different flick depending on which side of the button is touching the board is that by design?
@TraceyBoards
Жыл бұрын
I can't say it is 'by design' but it is very common with all natural wooden discs. 99% of the time my choice is to shoot with the flat side down. some players check with their eyes, I like to check with my fingers while I am waiting for my opponent to shoot.

Crokinole Game Boards it’s confusing because waxing a board is an actual thing some do and involves actual wax. I’m guessing it’s the shuffleboard terminology based on the effect is similar to waxing a shuffleboard to a high gloss. But bees have noting to do with the product that merely achieves the same thing as a highly polished waxing. My first reaction was : of you sprinkle wax grains on it the whole thing will get sticky. Thanks for clarifying. Engineers hate marketing guys. ;)
@TraceyBoards

Minok1217 it is granulated wax. My wife just reminded me. I do remember hearing that but it didn’t stick. It’s kinda like people using the word disc or button or checker or pucks to describe their crokinole playing pieces. I don’t really care what people call them as long as they are playing lol
