In our live session on 16th October, we discussed the multitudinous layers in the history of Lahore from its mythologically believed origin to the events that paved its way into the cosmopolitan melting pot of cultures that it is today. A series of learning and unlearning - together we discover the underrepresented heritage of the city - both pre-colonial and colonial - also consisting of innumerable structures and sites of great architectural and cultural value that were abandoned by the communities that had migrated from Lahore during Partition. We believe that the conversation would also help the listeners attain a great deal of understanding of what goes into the process of archiving, documenting, and preserving narratives of the past and what it is like to work in the creative industry, memory-based organizations, and the heritage conservation sector.
The most heartwarming bit of such conversations is the fact that they transcend borders and create a safe space for cross-border dialogue, peace, and love. This was one such instance where we also talk about the role of social media in filling the gaps created geographically and politically between our countries.
