I recently started running with my friend in PE and I noticed that I can go faster than her now than in beginning of the year, so she told me I should try out for cross country with and your videos are helping me prepare for the try outs. THANK YOU SO MUCH

Glad i already do this. You shoukd really do one on mindset if it is not comfusing enough. I was runnin near 20 min 5ks and disn't feel like i was trying enough. Then one race i just completely dropped to 18:51 just from mindset

Uphill, don't go as fast as your race pace, same effort, different pace. For steep hills, lift your knees and pump your arms.

my coach told me something similar to the cresting part. he said what you said about how the other people are tired so that's a great chance to pass people.

Hills are my best friend. The course at my hill school is 75% hills, and that's where my team does a lot of their passing. We HATE flat courses; we find them rather boring.

you slow yourself down by doing that. Going side to side uses more energy.

Where is the mud? Good advice, use gravity downhill and don't fight it uphill - I've heard it explained in terms of effort, keep the effort even through a race, not the speed, which means slower speed uphill and faster down.

I had the worst shin splits my first year of cross country in high school and what I did was ice it (with an ice bag) and keep it on your shin (or whereever it's hurting) and keep it on for 15-20 minutes. Because aftetr that you're body is gonna get used to it and it won't do any help. I now use this stuff called BENGAY and you can put it in the freezer and whenever you're hurting rub it on (it looks like a deodorant stick)! Hope this was help!!

When I go downhill I just let go and let gravity take me. My arms flail like a chicken but i don’t care

Yeah if you’re low on energy, letting gravity take you will basically let you run without using any.

Slow twitch muscle fibers

Cuz they use their slow twitch muscles. Sprinters use fast twitch muscles which are bulkier in general. Thats why they are thinner.
