Hi Beth I love how real you make your quilts… I used to struggle trying to make everything perfect but I’ve watched so many KZitem videos of wonderful people embracing their imperfection which has really improved my sewing… weird huh. I love watching you create because everything you make is so perfectly imperfectly perfect if that makes any sense. Thank you for your inspiration and your authenticity. You are truly a quilt maker that I admire Immensely. Thank you for sharing you talent ❤️

I enjoyed this video. I do a lot of cross hatch or stitch in the ditch quilting. I use my walking foot for this and it comes with a side bar. I use to stitch all the lines but the first one. It’s a lot faster than the painters tape and about as accurate. The bar can be adjusted for width, so I can quilt close or wider. Works well. Not sure the bar is for this purpose, but it works great.

I've made many string and strip quilts and loved them all, but I had my doubts seeing all the different fabrics and various colors and styles, wondered how the end would turn out. OMGOsh, it was beautiful!!!! - the crosshatch quilting was a perfect finish - I should not have doubted the end result. Thank you for the proof that even that collection of strips, colors, values, genres, all went together wonderfully.

I really enjoy all of your videos. Your projects always turn out lovely. I also like your practical methods and materials. It is nice to see. I, personally, cannot afford all of the fancy things used on some of the quilting tutorials. I have never used a walking foot to quilt my projects. My two machines, a hand-crank Singer 99k and '70s Elna SU seem to do fine quilting without one. I tried a walking foot once, but it didn't turn out well for me either, so I never use it.

I'm fortunate that my Pfaff machine doesn't need a walking foot because there's an integrated system that moves the top fabric at the same speed as the bottom fabric. Take care.

I used this quilt design on my first attempt at quilting. SewVeryEasy showed how to do this using a wavy line which I made wide and long. If I got off the line, it didn't matter. I try to use lines and wiggles on all my donation quilts, it's quick and easy. Your daughter's quilt is beautiful ❤️.

There's so much more fulfillment in doing your own quilting on a quilt you pieced vs sending it out to a longarmer - but maybe that's just me because I can't afford it. I love the crosshatch look especially for a utility quilt. Also, I enjoyed the background music on the video as it was fun to listen to and so appropriate for watching a sped up video. Thanks for the video.

I was quilting potholders today. They were so thick I could barely get them under the walking foot. I started with 4 waves across the potholder. After a couple, it started to look like a child’s scribbles . I decided to call it the “human” style.

I like crosshatching my quilts, you can't go wrong with the basics. In an online tutorial I watched, the quilter said "it's called a walking foot - don't run with it"! I had better results when I slowed down & lowered the presser foot pressure.

Hi, Beth...do you do the first line from corner to corner?
@bethshibleyquilts
3 жыл бұрын
Since the quilt is not square the diagonal line does not go corner to corner. I used the 45 degree angle so that the lines make squares on point. If I went corner to corner with the line it would not be 45 degrees and I think it would be more of a diamond shape. Hope that helps.
