This is a video I wanted to shoot many years ago and finally made it on the 3rd of September 2017.
It's the crossing the Rio-Antirrio bridge (officially the Charilaos Trikoupis bridge), which at 2880 m. long is one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and probably the longest of the "fully suspended" type.
The bridge connects Rio in Peloponnese with Antirrio in mainland Greece and in this video I'm driving the opposite way (from Antirrio to Rio)
It was inaugurated on 7 August 2004, a week before the opening of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and the Olympic torchbearers were the first to officially cross it.
Takes just 3-4 minutes to cross it and cuts significantly the time needed to cross the straits which was done before with ferries (still operational) and used to take (depending on the weather, the traffic etc) from about half an hour to more than an hour.
