Great to see a man that never lost his passion... So rewarding to be in the woods!!! M'y grandfather had 15 teams of horses with a bunch of hard working skilled men, and from 1955 to 1963 they cut 10 million feet of high quality hardwood logs right up behind M'y house in a place called Fullerton pond in Québec just north of the Vermont border. Thank you for the video !!!

I agree, every farm needs a draft horse team, except those farmers who demonstrate that they'd rather be heavy machine operators than farmers. I have had horses and worked with them for 61 years and still enjoy it, even though I cannot do many things anymore I used to do.

I still log this way here in Ontario Canada. Pretty much unchanged in the bush, you look at footage from 50 years ago, or 75 years ago, you could step right into the picture and grab the lines and go to work. Very nice to see vignettes like this about rural ways and means.

My friend Ed Armstrong was a logger and used horses to "swamp em out". He grew up in a logging family in Bracebridge Ontario. He was killed when one of the small logs they were pulling caught on a stump, came around like a shot and hit him in the head killing him on the spot. A wonderful man husband father and friend. 1990.

@@garvdarb Things can happen fast in the bush for sure. I was laid up 20 years ago when similar thing, except the log shot out and smashed my lower leg between it and a stump. Long cedar poles and it bound up on a corner.

I don’t mean to be demeaning in anyway sir, but, is that you at the beginning and end of the video? If it is, you sound exactly and I mean EXACTLY like Fritz Wetherbee from New Hampshire Chronicle. Very nice piece you have done. Thank you 😊
