Have you ever been to a Metallica show? I've been to many and I can tell you from experience that the crowd sings every word of every song... at every show. He could not sing at all, and all the lyrics would still be sung. Hell.. the crowd even sings some of the guitar parts at Metallica shows.

If you ask me, if you're a musician either apart of a band or a solo act, if your work or even a specific song that you personally wrote becomes so well known that at concerts not only does the crowd seem hyped up but go as far as to lose their shit when they hear that first note and everyone in unison is singing and not giving you the chance to; that's when you know you've reached your peak and officially left a lasting impact in your genre. I might not be a hard-core Metallica fan(personally, I'm more of an early 2000's-early 2010's metalcore, post-hardcore, and alternative metal fan) but anybody would be stupid to not admit that it's a feat in itself that for over 40 years they've arguably been in the overall top 5 most popular and successful bands in the metal scene. I might play guitar and bass, and currently in the works of starting something music related, but hypothetically if I experienced this myself; there's no way I'd be like James here and just go "Eh my voice could use the rest for once, I'll allow it."

Not to downplay how great James is, but this isn’t a very hard song to play. I learned everything but the solos about 6 months into playing. He’s been playing it for half a century.

Is it safe to say James is underrated? His vocals are unique enough that he could have been solely a vocalist, yet his guitar playing is undoubtedly his own. Being that he does both makes him truly one of the best musicians of all time and deserving of an iconic status. Though not many people seem to mention just how good his playing is.

Saw a video of the original Misfits lineup (in Chicago?) Where Glenn Danzig was singing along with the crowd on Astro Zombies. That's to say, the crowd was leading Glenn into the lyrics, every syllable. That's called "making an impact". Awesome, GD.

@@mirba6933 I start going to there concerts when they were the opening band for the great Ozzy Osbourne. The ultimate sin your. Seen them in New Orleans at the lake front arena. Tripping my balls off. I thought they blew Ozzy off the stage. I think that was in 86 or 87. So yeah I've been a Metallica fan a long time. Probably before most of you all was even a dribble on your mommy's Inner thigh.
