Now while this kind of attack might be a bit unrealistic, new attack vectors are constantly developed/found and users can be just plain stupid, and even if these 'advanced machine learning' products would learn from it and prevent it the second time it is still too late at that point, just like it would be too late if it happened with a traditional product. I used Crowdstrike in the entreprise and it is WAY ABOVE any AV that exists. This will detect behaviors when no signature is present, such as a malicious Power Shell script (even when encrypted) that creep being attachments in phishing email. You can search back in time for a behavior and see if it ever happened on another computer in your environment. Very powerful stuff. Thanks for your video, take care.

No popular AV product has been totally signature-reliant for at least the past five years. Kaspersky, BitDefender, Comodo, Avast, etc. all have multiple components for detecting unknown stuff, e.g. behaviour monitoring, file reputation systems, cloud analysis, sandboxing, and so on.

CS made a public response to this video by saying that the machine wasn't set up properly. We use CS and haven't had any problems. Thus being said, we are considering moving to SentinelOne once our contract ends. CS has a great product, lightweight and overall does the work extremely well, S1 is a bit heavier and stricter in terms of detections. Depends on your company needs one solution is better than the other :) Also, I don't think that you will see any benchmarks on S1 nor CS anytime soon, I'm not a fan of the measure but all EDRs that focus on enterprises have clauses that forbid clients from doing tests like the one shown in this video publicly. From S1: (vi) probe, scan or test the efficacy or vulnerability of the Solutions, or take any action in an effort to circumvent or undermine the Solutions, except for the legitimate testing of the Solutions in coordination with Red Canary, in connection with considering a subscription to the Solutions as licensed herein; From CS: (ix) conduct any stress tests, competitive benchmarking or analysis on, or publish any performance data of, an Offering (provided, that this does not prevent Customer from comparing the Products to other products for Customer’s Internal Use);

When adding a machine to crowdstrike it goes in to the default group which if not reconfigured has no protection. A new machine can dynamically get moved in to the correct prevention policy if the admin sets up their groups correctly. It would be interesting to see if they correctly set all prevention policies. I would assume anyone that spends that much on crowdstrike would just turn on every bell and whistle. So it doing that poorly even two years ago is concerning.

They always claim something is going to change it but it might appear as if they where right this time, I still don't use it but seeing the score in the top 10 is surprising none the less. I mean heck it could be a short video as well maybe in the next video once you are done with the testing just re-add the malware again and let it run? As we train our employees and users to be more cybersecurity conscious, we need to give them a GUI client where they have the ability to scan a file before executing.
