This is my first time being a dental assistant and it’s so hard because my school really didn’t train me they just showed me by books lol yes I had clinical hours but it wasn’t as intense as this lol. I do t feel prepared at all.

Did you take your exam to be a dental assistant? How was it if you did take it? I’m so nervous to do my externship and take my exam because I haven’t been learning anything and we started doing online classes which is worse because of the whole coronavirus

same my school just showed books and barely lab work, it feels hard cause of doing a lot of steps,/like passing which instrument to the dentist. And the dentist are not all the same, some may be me more stricter than others

Great Video! I've been searching for one like this ..i'm a EFDA (trying to get back into the field b/c i've been out a while since i'm a mommy now ) & future RDH ..the only thing i would probably add is the tooth shade selection process..if you haven't already can you do videos on maybe different handpieces & burs & their specific uses..and maybe extraction procedure & the specific instruments used for extractions with their purposes ...

As an expanded functions dental assist, we now make the temporaries for the dentist. which is nerve racking as well cuz you dont want to screw that up either. in my years of being a DA i have only found one dentist that made his own and thats bc he was old school. :)

Before the tooth is prepped, the very first thing you need to do is take a bite registration of the tooth that will be prepped?

but do we remove the gingival retraction cord before taking the final impression or after?
@dentalelle

Some dentists remove it before end some after. It’s usually just before but I’ve had some decide to wait
@mechellemarsh

Remove bigger cord before impression and smaller will come out in the impression allow the lab to remove to prevent distortion if it’s sill in you simply remove it from the stump/prep

Nowadays, many office uses cerec crown, so they only need one appointment and no need to send to dental lab.

Kate Snape yes cerac is one appointment. Depending where you live. In Kitchener for example, hardly anyone uses it here

I see. By the way, I am more interested in new technology and new procedures. Haha. This is out of topic. One day, I hope, dentists can use stem cells and helping to grow natural teeth where it lost. Because i found that implants is not best option for infection issue and allergy reaction from titanium combination.
