I got this idea in 2019 from a Ron Paulk video on building various jigs to help with crown molding and he mentioned his ideas (at least some) were inspired by master carpenter Gary M. Katz. LINK BELOW ----- the 6 video playlist for Ron's crown molding (includes the 3 jigs he makes for effective/efficient crown - see video 3 and 4 of the series)

Today I am making a new crown stop for my miter box. Overall it is 68in long, max width is 10.5in, and is made from A/C 3/4" ply. Check out the end of the video for some B-roll video of the jig on the saw and of the crown installation I did that night.
Here is the crown stop in action in a previous video I posted about the day I crowned the home library room. • jobsite set up and cut...
My current trim setup uses a DeWalt corded 12in sliding miter saw, DeWalt stand, and two home built miter wings (8ft on the left of the saw and 6.5ft to the right of the saw for long material support).
I also use a DeWalt cordless jig saw with Collins Coping foot for interior cope cuts. I have a home-built jig for supporting the trim while I cope.
To install crown perfectly, I use a home-built installation tool that maintains the proper crown spring angle for installation. A video on making and using this tool have or will post.
