Super appreciate the video just fixed my 04 marquis with this has it riding like butter!! Didnt even have to take part out just covered in penetrating spray and grease, worked it in real good spinning wheel around for 5-10 mins and was good to go. Saved my ride and my fears of a costly repair!!

One extra step I've done is take a bike inner tube and put it over the joint fill it with grease and zip/clamp both ends

That would have been a great idea. I even have some old tubes laying around.

Great video demonstrating how to remove it. Nobody wants to show removal. Just the easy part of putting it back on. What a helpful video. I hope the sarcasm is being picked up.

This really helped me, getting me thinking and troubleshooting my 06 MGM's tight steering. My problem ended up being the interior collar was misaligned or unevenly tightened from when someone else worked on the car changing out the lower steering shaft.

I had this problem with my 2001 Grand Marquis. I pulled the steering shaft but it was loose and not bound up. After checking out everything to no avail, I ended up fixing it by replacing both upper and lower ball joints. They were so worn that the wheel spindle was binding up during turns and now it drives like a new car.

I gave you a thumbs up... I just spray the Shirt out of it without removing it with that same lubricant, slowly started to move the steering wheel left turn, right turn and so forth until it got looser, then put some gloves on and grease the shirt out of the joint with some reach, and then went on to drive in a safe zone and swerve like a maniac, lol, then got back on the road good as New.

Well done. Learn something new everyday. Like the part at the end with the spare part laying on the passenger floor. (“Ahh... f*** it!”) Yeah, sounds like something I would say.

Only on Dorman replacement shafts that Ford installed between 2014 and 2015. Very rare occurrence. I checked recalls and this is the only occurrence I could find. static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2015/RCONL-15E082-5131.pdf

Ford gives you better ideas... 'nice touch'... that's what she said. LOL. Would have been nice if there was a mention of how the steering behaved before the work was done. Kinda grabby on the HWY is suspected like mine. I'll try this and see. If it don't work I'm getting a new pump. I've lubricated everything else.

Lol I didn’t even have to take mine off, I just sprayed the joints with rust check and after a few days of driving it just freed up, I sprayed it some more just to keep it from going stiff again
