In late June, our installation crew was at Seaside Park, NJ where they mounted lightning detection siren stations and strobe lights along the boardwalk.
When lightning is detected within a certain radius of the area, beachgoers and lifeguards will be alerted by loud sirens and strobe lights to evacuate the area.
“Our goal is not to let people know that the storm is here. Our goal is to let people know the storm is approaching - to give them…plenty of time to get to safety,” says Seaside Park lifeguard captain Jim Rankin.
