The color of blue in the ocean in the tropics is basically the same everywhere. I've been on many Tropical Islands throughout the Caribbean and the Bahamas and the color of the blue depends on the time of day and the way the sun is shining on the ocean and how many clouds are in the sky, also if there's plant life under the water. I have experienced that exact same color blue in South Florida and Fort Lauderdale and the keys when you are driving to Key West. I believe the ocean is the most blue looking during the early afternoon. The more clouds the less blue.

Fabulous blog and I love the ocean in the Bahamas with its cerulean blue waters. And the plant in your hotel room: IDK if you guys call it a snake plant in the UK but here in the States we call it a mother-in-law's tongue.
@luminiferous1960
10 ай бұрын
I grew up in Virginia and my mother, who also grew up in Virginia, had the same plants. She called them snake plants. So they are also called snake plants in some places in the U.S., not just the UK. From wikipedia: "Dracaena trifasciata is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria east to the Congo. It is most commonly known as the snake plant, Saint George's sword, mother-in-law's tongue, and viper's bowstring hemp, among other names."

Some people consider the Bahamas part of the Caribbean. But why do you keep calling it the sea when it's the Atlantic Ocean. A sea is a body of water surrounded on three sides by land like the Baltic Sea or the Mediterranean Sea. Large bodies of open water are called the ocean, like the Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific Ocean or the Indian Ocean and the Arctic Ocean.

They are using the word "sea" as in the definitions 1 a and 1 c from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, whereas you are using the definitions 1 b and 1 d: "sea, noun 1 a: a great body of salt water that covers much of the earth broadly : the waters of the earth as distinguished from the land and air b: a body of salt water of second rank more or less landlocked the Mediterranean sea c: OCEAN d: an inland body of water -used especially for names of such bodies the Caspian Sea" From the Wikipedia: "The Caribbean Sea (Spanish: Mar Caribe; French: Mer des Caraïbes; Haitian Creole: Lanmè Karayib; Jamaican Patois: Kiaribiyan Sii; Dutch: Caraïbische Zee; Papiamento: Laman Karibe) is a sea of the Atlantic Ocean in the tropics of the Western Hemisphere. It is bounded by Mexico and Central America to the west and southwest, to the north by the Greater Antilles starting with Cuba, to the east by the Lesser Antilles, and to the south by the northern coast of South America... The entire Caribbean Sea area, the West Indies' numerous islands, and adjacent coasts are collectively known as the Caribbean... The International Hydrographic Organization defines the limits of the Caribbean Sea as follows: On the North. In the Windward Channel - a line joining Caleta Point (74°15′W) and Pearl Point (19°40′N) in Haiti. In the Mona Passage - a line joining Cape Engaño and the extreme of Agujereada (18°31′N 67°08′W) in Puerto Rico. Eastern limits. From Point San Diego (Puerto Rico) Northward along the meridian thereof (65°39′W) to the 100-fathom line, thence Eastward and Southward, in such a manner that all islands, shoals and narrow waters of the Lesser Antilles are included in the Caribbean Sea as far as Galera Point (Northeast extremity of the island of Trinidad). From Galera Point through Trinidad to Galeota Point (Southeast extreme) and thence to Baja Point (9°32′N 61°0′W) in Venezuela." The Commonwealth of the Bahamas is located in the Lucayan Archipelago, the portion of the Caribbean region in the North Atlantic Ocean rather than in or bordering the Caribbean Sea.
