My brother and I were on the upper deck, center stage. Friends with us thought the stands were going to fall down. What a night. What a Band!!!

wow, starting at about 5:50 you can really see Pete's intensity kickin.....he's totally locked in from there til the end of the song. nothing is better then when pete goes to that place!

One of my favorite Who songs that gets overlooked. Words and guitar playing just about the best he ever did in my opinion. This was probably about the last time he ever truly meant it.

he played like this entire tour - and he was sober as could be by this time

Um ... not long after this he was od-ing on heroin. He was probably more sober on that one than in the past, but, he wasn't outta the woods in '82 at all. You could tell he was trying to clean up at that time, but those early 80's were probably when he was in the most danger. The time he did more *hard* drugs then all through The Who to that point.

I cannot imagine "You Better You Bet", "Eminence Front", "The Quiet One"; "Another Tricky Day"; "Athena"; "Its Hard"; "A Man Is A Man"; and perhap the most underrated song in The Who history: "Cry If You Want" WITHOUT Kenny Jones!
@mygirlpiper

BluesLicks101 I agree, when Keith Moon passed away the original WHO sound died along with him BUT with Kenny Jones a different WHO emerged slightly different " not better or worse than K Moon's WHO" just a different WHO that still maintained the bands identity and I for one also liked the Kenny Jones era with THE WHO!!

Fuckin' awesome Region!! Saw them that year too here in Phoenix. WHOLAWEEN!! (dude dressed as a mushroom won the costume contest!) Unbelievable show!! My uncle's friend and his wife did not want general admission, and were happy to take our nose bleed seats! Which meant? Right in front of Pete!! Watching him play this song was ... transporting. I made him laugh cause I kept yelling at him to play magic bus. That's how close I was. He heard me.

It's funny that you mention that on this video since this song was omitted from the live album you're referring to, though on remastered versions of It's Hard 'Cry If You Want' from that show is included as a bonus track. And being touched up it sounds really nice too.
@wiltswonder

aluminumininum that version of "cry if you want" and the other 3 bonus tracks are from the final show of the tour in Toronto, not this one

The message I originally replied to was about the final show and not this one; my original comment here is long since irrelevant.
