Hey Professor! Just wanted to thank you for all your videos and quizzes! I just passed my Sec+ 501 exam this past Tuesday. I would not have been able to do it without the help of your videos. You do an amazing job of explaining concepts and then giving real world examples! Getting certified has helped my secure my new job in IT. I changed careers from the service industry for 6 years and am now doing what I love! Thank You ☺️

Once you start to grasp the fundementals of asymmetric crypto it really starts to come together as a simple puzzle. i.e. only a private key can work with the public key but just having the public key won't allow that same data to be decrypted. I know it sounds so simple but it clicked for me and man it feels good! Thank you, Professor Messer for these amazing videos and for sharing your gift for teaching complex topics in digestable ways. Taking my SY601 next week and I'm confident thanks to your help that I'll walk out of the testing center with a smile and a new cert!

Hello Professor, is it possible to enable the translation feature in your videos? Thank you very much

It is enabled; you simply click settings > subtitles > English Auto Generated; the regular ones work as well but auto-generated will work on any video across youtube so it's good to know.

Is it a poor method to simply zip the key into a password protected archive file to send it?
@Felttipfuzzywuzzyflyguy

That's a good question! I suppose it would then add the necessity to share the zip password to the receiving party (which would need to be sent using an OOB method). I would still be wary of what service the zip is being sent through. I think it's all about minimizing risk, lots of factors to consider. I think at that point, if anything, out-of-band would be safer but even that has potential issues. IMO, zipping the sym key and dealing with sending it and safely communicating the password for the zip file just makes the workaround more complex than the solution (sharing the sym key via the asym method mentioned in the video).

Yes, because you still have to somehow send the recipient the password to the zip. It's the same problem of key-exchange.

@@AndyCinDallas usually I communicate on a phone with voice the password so there is not record lying around unless the phone is tapped, recorded line, or someone close by listening in. Its not the best but has worked for me.
